Is it okay to go to a party on a holy day of obligation?

I am invited to a small party on December 8, which is Immaculate Conception.

I’m going to the noon Mass and the party is at night. Is it okay to go on that day or should I decline the invitation?

Thanks in advance for your help! I’m a convert and this wasn’t covered in RCIA. I don’t want to do the wrong thing.

Hi Polly,

Think of holy days of obligation as Sundays. It is perfectly fine to recreate on such days. Enjoy the party!
