Is it okay to miss Church on Sunday when on a field trip?

I have to miss Church on Sunday because I am going on a weekend field trip. I go to a public school and theres a matter of church and state and also I dont think my admin.will let me go because of the bus ride and the idea of no school official at the church. I have a couple of other friends who are Catholic who want to go to church as well, but not enough to wear our teacher will send us off to church while everyone is at the destination on the field trip. Is this a mortal sin if I miss church because of going on a field trip?
