If a catholic was invited to attend church with a person from a another denomination, would it be alright for the catholic to recieve communion? Or would it not be?

No it isn’t. When a person receives communion in a particular church, they are expressing a oneness in faith (belief) - in other words they are saying they believe everything that that church teaches.
Given that non-Catholic churches vary so much in their beliefs on just about everything, and most ironically of all hold many and opposed views on the Eucharist itself, what it is/represents, it certainly would be giving the lie to any idea of communion for us to receive in another church.

if the Church is in full communion with the Vatican then yes its okay
if not, then its not okay

Just curious …
1] Why would you consider [or even want to] partake of a mere symbolic representation of an event [the Last Supper] that theose who re-inact do not believe is necessary for salvation and for whom the practice is a quaint practice … when you recieve the very Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist, the same Christ who instructed on the efficacy of “eating” this Food From Heaven for Everlasting Life?
2] Don’t you think that participation in that “quaint practice” of the symbolic communion denigrades the very Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross … the Eucharist he gave Himself up to provide to you?
3] What benefit to your faith journey do you think this communion would provide you?

My brother was married in a non-catholic ceremony where “communion” was offered. I partook, and then went to confession. I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but I hurt Jesus’ feelings instead…not good. Although I have to say, my confessor didn’t seem to put out by it.

You can’t judge the seriousness of a sin by how your confessor reacts or doesn’t react - for one they really do hear it all in confession, so perhaps they don’t react to much anyways.
For second, for all you know the guy ahead of you did something extremely shocking like a mass murder or something, so that your sin seemed (not that it was, but just seemed) tame by comparison.

Is the Church in question an Orthodox Church? If so then you CAN receive Communion under certain circumstances. If it’s a Protestant community then you can’t under any circumstances.

This thread is kinda funny for me I feel like I’d have to decline a communion in a church of a friend or parents or other family. Why, I want to convert and try(not perfect by longshot) to follow THE Church, all the other churches of friends & family are protestant.
