I agree with this post! A couple of my friends mentioned watching this show (we’re all in our late 20’s, and one mentioned that she had watched a marathon with her dad!) and at first, I wasn’t sure about it, but I gave it a try, and now have my DVR set to record all the new episodes.

I don’t feel that the nudity is sexual or that it is intended to start any drama between the two contestants. I’ve seen some episodes where they had to deal with bug bites and sunburn that otherwise wouldn’t have been an issue/wouldn’t have been as big of an issue if they had been clothed, and it was interesting to me to see how they coped (making clothing items out of leaves, covering their skin with mud to block the sun, etc). I do see it as an awkward moment when the pair first meet, but usually any awkwardness that comes from it disappears once they get down to the actual surviving. One contestant even mentioned this specifically at one point - I don’t have the time or energy to look at her that way, all I can think about is how am I going to get a meal!
Also, I think it could be an advantage in other ways to have the fabric - I’ve noticed that contestants who had their hair tied back have to remove their hair ties before starting the challenge - presumably because they could use the material for something other than its intended use. So there’s no reason to think that they couldn’t remove their clothing and use that for a different purpose as well, and if I’d been a couple days without food or water, I’d be thinking along those lines as well!
