Is it permissible to have a meat based gravy on Lenten Fridays?

I need your expertise to settle a friendly debate. On Fridays of Lent is it permissible to have a meat based meatless gravy (no pieces of meat in the gravy) or to have a food fried in bacon grease. Thanks in advance.
