Is it possible that the Heliocentric system is wrong and the Geocentric right?

Big Bang theorist do not claim that the universe is expanding from the center of the bang, but that the universe is expanding everywhere.
Well, that’s rather odd. I mean, if there was a big bang, then material would have been thrown out into the void in the same way it is with any other explosion. That’s just basic physics.

JimG:
A spherical surface has no center.
OOOOoooo… but it does. The center just isn’t anything on the spherical surface.

This could get theological in a minute. The metaphor is too tempting.

Am I correct in saying that, even when considering just the solar system, we can’t say that the earth is at the center, or the sun is at the center… everything orbits around the center of mass, which happens to be a lot closer to the center of the sun (and may actually be within the sun). But the sun also orbits or wobbles a bit around that point, right?

I just have to jump in here because, a few years ago, an idea came to me and I’ve been just itching to try it out and see what others think of it. Unfortunately, my day to day life revolves around cooking, changing diapers, and trying to clean marker off a wall (sometimes all at the same time!! lol), so I haven’t had a chance to share this grand idea with too many people.

Anyway, here goes. I’ve got this image of the universe as a sort of “snow globe”. The earth and it’s surrounding solar system (which I’m fairly certain does revolve around the sun) as well as the rest of the galaxies, nebulas, etc. are all God’s creations, put into place for their beauty (and, perhaps, for our amusement). The universe may very well be expanding, if for no other reason, so that we are never able to see beyond it’s boundries for, beyond it’s boundries, is Heaven. I hope I’m explaining this well. My thought here is that this reconciles the creation story in which the earth was surrounded by a firmament. Perhaps it really was. Then, as men continued their quest for knowledge and improved technology, God found it necessary to expand the universe around us (or, to follow my analagy, make the snow globe bigger) so that we would never actually reach the boundries. Does this make sense?

God bless, Jen

Dr. Colossus:
Space is expanding at the same rate in all directions. . . .
Erh. . . pardon me. . . sorry. It turns out that, like so much ‘science,’ the concept of an ‘expanding universe’ is pure fiction and based on doctored data. What recent findings have shown is that the earth is in fact at the center of the universe. Yes!

Do a google to learn more.

An interesting idea, but not one I could support. I don’t believe the stars, at al, are only there for beauty or our amusement. Nor that God expands the universe when human beings take notice of its size.

I believe the universe is the size it is because it would have to be for our planet and us to be here. We exist on the outer rim of the Milky Way galaxy. And the Milky Way exists within a certain place in space, as well. It seems to me that God chose this place for our sun and our planet so that it could sustain life, and not just bacteria, but human life.

I am looking forward to the day when God will reveal how he made the universe and us within it. Now, that will be something to see better than any Hollywood director could ever envision!

Erh. . . sorry. . . but the so-called ‘Big Bang’ is another myth that was recently exploded.

Yup, my friends, that’s right. There was no Big Bang.

How come you guys are so behind on current science?

😃

Dr. Colossus:
However, the possibility that it would be right and the heliocentric system be wrong is not very likely at all.
😃 But good Doctor, “not very likely” is not the same as impossible and if not impossible, then possible, no?

Do you have documentation for us? Or a source for this claim?

I wish I did. But I do so much reading on the net that I don’t remember the source. Maybe a google would unearth something. But it was in an authoritative publication.

Hi Della:

Here’s one article I’ve found. It’s not the same one I remember reading a while ago, but the gist is the same:

**Big Bang Cosmology Meets an Astronomical Death, by Paul Marmet.

“This article will demonstrate that the big bang model is physically unacceptable, because it is incompatible with important observations. It is not even acceptable philosophically, since it implies that time began to exist at a supposed instant of creation. It is therefore impossible to speak of a cause of the Big Bang (Maddox 1989).”**

The rest of the article will be found at:

Hi Della:

There’s lots of other stuff. Here’s a book on the subject:

"The Big Bang Never Happened : A Startling Refutation of the Dominant Theory of the Origin of the Universe by ERIC LERNER.

amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN%3D067974049X/noname//103-7263732-1539835

The reviews, of which there are currently 42, are quite interesting. Here’s a snip from the Amazon review by Andrew Boswell:

"I am a theoretical physicist and I can tell you that there is much more truth in the name of title The Big Bang Never Happened, than can be found in the numerous books about the big bang created universe. One may search the Internet for the Cosmology Statement Open Letter to the scientific community, published in New Scientist, May 22-28 issue, 2004, p. 20. This letter was written by a number of scientists from different countries. It has been signed so far by more than 200 researchers from around the world. I can only greatly appreciate Eric Lerner, the author of The Big Bang Never Happened, for showing the fundamental flaws of the current theory."

It looks as if the New Scientist open letter he refers to would be well worth looking at.
