Somehow I always have believed this. Does anyone else think so?

No, the woman at the well had 5 husbands …Mary Magdalene was never married.

No. The name “Magdalene” indicates that she was from Magdala, which is the name of two towns in Galilee. There is no evidence that points to her being a resident of Samaria.

I still think Magdalene is the woman who washed His feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. I don’t see why not. I’ve never heard of Magdalene as being the same as the Samaritan woman, though I’ve heard Magdalene might be Martha’s sister. I don’t believe that either, because Martha’s Mary would have been from Bethany, not Magdala. I don’t know where they get that.

Hi, Jas!

No. Mary of Magdala (Magdalen) was a Jewess; Samaritans were not considered part of the Jewish people.

I just alwags thought it was strange how he transformed the Samaritan woman and she recognized him as the Christ that she would simply just stay back and go on with life. Such a transformation I at times wonder why she wouldn’t have followed him. I don’t really think her being a Samaritan would have meant a thing to Jesus. I don’t know it’s just been a question I’ve pondered reading scripture a lot. She had 5 husbands and was living in adultery yes but he also forgave her. Who is to say the story ends as it does. She may have followed him. Kind of the same is the blind young man he heals. Whose to say he isn’t Stephen? Stephen seems to come from nowhere in Acts, is referred to as young, the blind man was young. I know this is all speculative but one has to wonder.

Scripture References—Matthew 27:56, 61; 28:1; Mark 15:40, 47; 16:1-19; Luke 8:2; 24:10; John 19:25; 20:1-18.

According to Scripture, St. Mary Magdalene was healed by Jesus of seven demons. She was a witness to the risen Christ. Our Savior told her to tell the brothers that He had risen. There are more references to her, but these are among the most important.

It doesn’t end there. She is known as St. Photina or St. Svetlana and, in the East, has the tltle “Equal to the Apostles”, which is also a title given to St. Mary Magdalene.

Yes, one does wonder and God Bless YOU for reading and studying and wondering about his life here on earth… Very good exercise for the mind…

I never got that idea because he knew Mary Magdalene personally whereas it is clear in the woman at the well story that he was meeting her for the first time, and only knew things about her from his Holy abilities.

Are you confusing Mary Magdalene with Mary, Lazarasus’s sister?

The woman was at Jacob’s Well in Samaria. Mary Magdalene was from the town of Magdala on the West coast of the Sea of Galilee.

Hi, Jas!

What has been Written in Scriptures is for the purpose of promoting the Word (Revelation) of God. Everything else is not as important… we can speculate and wonder… yet, what has been recorded is for the value of the Faith (learning).

…as for the Samaritan woman, who knows–we know that she became a Witness to Christ for the Samaritans as many of the people in her town sought Jesus after she went back to them and gave Testimony… some even came to Believe directly from Jesus’ Teachings. There is no doubt that they joined the Church after the Pentecost’s experience.

Mary is the sister of Lazarus & Martha & washed Jesus’ feet with her hair. John 11
Hi!

…I’ve heard that said before… but it is not conclusive from Scriptures… Martha and Mary lived with their brother Lazarus… the woman spoken of in St. Luke 7:36-50 is identified as Mary the sister of Lazarus and Martha in St. John 11:2; yet, how could she be both from Bethany and from Magdala?

Lazarus and his sisters are said to be from Bethany, St. John 11:1.

…in Scriptures we find that people had common names and there were two forms of identifying them (separating them): the name of the town (as Jesus of Nazareth) and their parental connection (as Simon, son of Jonah/Jonas). Would it not be full confusion to call Mary, Lazarus’ sister: Mary of Magdala (Magdalen) and Mary of Bethany? …consider too the great distance that separate both towns!
