Is it possible to get a dispensation from the Easter Duty? I’m struggling very much with scrupulousity and I really don’t think I’m going to be able to make a valid confession in order to receive the Eucharist in four days (Trinity Sunday). If it is possible, how?

May be mistaken…the Easter Duty means that if you in grave sin you must confess during this time. If your are not in serious sin this duty does not apply.

Though i believe if anyone is a devoted comitted Catholic the Easter duty is not an issue.

If it is…please consider a trusted spiritual director.

Scrupulosity doesn’t prevent you from making a valid confession.

Ideally you will now go immediately to speak with a priest who can help you out by instructing you on a the requirements for a valid confession, then hear your confession, then give you holy communion.

If that’s not possible, then go to confession at the next available opportunity:

1. Do not take a cheat sheet. Confess everything that you can remember. Everything you can’t remember will be forgiven.
2. Resolve not to sin again. Only your firm intention is required. You are not required to be sure you won’t sin again.
3. Be sorry for your sins at least to the extent of wishing to avoid hell. You are not required to have perfect contrition.
4. Do your penance right away exactly to the letter. Do not add or subtract anything.

Receive holy communion at the next possible opportunity. Do not let any doubts about the manner in which you performed numbers 1-4 above stop you from receiving.

You are mistaken. The Easter duty refers to the precept of the Church to receive communion at least once a year, during the Easter season (traditionally defined as between the First Mass of Easter and Trinity Sunday).

I repeat: talk to your priest. this is in HIS purview.

Just cause would be no priest available, you are in the hospital, something like that. NOT, “I dont want to go to confession”. You need to talk to your priest and deal with your issues.

Only your pastor and bishop have the authority to answer this question.

If you suffer from scrupulousity then you need to talk with your pastor and follow what he says.

Or get a spiritual director (this is what I would advise) and work with them on this.
