As you can see by the title I am devastated as today I was told in the confessional I would be denied absolution and cannot partake in the Eucharist. Here is the story. I was Baptised in the Catholic Church but my family rarely went to Mass. at the age if 14 I began wandering religions. I always believed in God and Jesus as my savio but I spent time in differant evangelical faiths. IE. Pentecostal,Church of Christ,Baptist. My first Confession was 3 weeks ago (it was at a differant Catholic Church other than my Church as my Church cancelled Confession due to unavoidable natters. I confesed at my first Communion my absence of 35 years and my return to the Church and mt attendance to a RCIA class. He welcomed me back granted me absolution as far as I new all was ok. My second confession was fine also I was absoled of sin and was able to partake of the Eucharist (I had the sacrement of First Communion at 12 or 13) However Today my home church had confessions and I confessed my regret at wasting 35 years of my life away from the true church. As I really do regret all the missed opportunities I had to serve the Church and all the other things I could have done. My Priesr asked where I was married and I told him at the Baptist Church. He then informed me he could not grant me absolution and said I could NOT partake in the Eucharist until I completed my RCIA Class and was remarried in the Catholic Church. While I am willing to accept this very difficult “pill” to swallow I am wondering why one Priest was fine with it and another refused even to grant me absolution. Even in our RCIA class my wife was told at her first interview that the Marriage in the Baptist Church was no issue because it was also a Church that believed in Vhrist and the Resurrection.
