Is it safe to be buried underground?

No, because our coffins will bust open, and our tombs open too. Remember what happened after Christ died on the cross. The tombs were opened and the dead came out.

A careful reading of the appearances of Christ show that the resurrected body is somehow different from our current earthly body. Christ entered into the Upper Room; you may recall the note that the doors were locked. In other words, he came into the room somehow, without opening the door.

It also appears he bi-located; the meeting with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus; was apparently at the same time he was appearing elsewhere.

And yet he was not a ghost or some “apparition”; he invited Thomas to stick a hand into his wounds; elsewhere, he ate with the apostles.

So from the gospels, it appears the resurrected body is the same and yet not the same. It is a body, but not a body as we experience them here and now. so no, no one will be stuck underground, just as Christ was not stuck outside the Upper Room because the door was locked.
 
I understand your point, but cremation is definitely NOT kosher!
 
You could be asked to be dug out but dont be expecting a kiss from a charming angel, more like a pick up the coffin and throw you out :D.

Just so we’re clear: you’re ok with the notion that we could be resurrected by God but not that God could move some dirt out of the way? 😁
 
Oh Tom, that’s funny. What happens to a person burned in a house fire??! What about all those bones making a cave/tunnel in France. No dust just bones.Nostradamus’s coffin only had a skull, everything else was dust. What about body parts eaten by sharks. Gross. We’ll have new bodies in Christ. The dead shall rise-from where? Not the grave. Are we in a limbo like holding area like Abraham, etc. Jesus on appearing, said,”Don’t touch me yet!” Later, on the road to Emmaus, he was solid. There are things we wont know for sure. We can read the words but understanding comes w Supernatural experience. Which, we don’t have.
Catholics can be creamated. We are to be respectful of our ashes. They are not to be scattered.
Underground coffins-when the TRUMPET SOUNDS, the graves were opened!
He wouldn’t let us live to die,again or live in a coffin…

If we are going to be like Jesus, who did not find a locked door to be much of an obstacle, a few feet of dirt and a coffin should not stop us.

This is one of my fears, being buried alive.

do you think Jesus’ body was stuck in the tomb? How did He get into the upper room?

51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom; and the earth shook, and the rocks were split; 52 the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. Matt. 27

Do you think the bodies of the saints who were raised when Jesus died on the cross were confined to their coffins?

And what about all those buried at sea? or lost in space?
 
You believe in the resurection of bodies that have been dead for millenia, but not that they can somehow be unstuck from their coffins? Doesn’t that seem a little silly to you? If, through supernatural powers they are resurrected, I don’t think you have to worry about a minor detail like being stuck.
 
how about blown up to bits by shell fragmentation & left for crow/coyote food on the battlefield?

Back in '68, we strung some claymores along the Ho Chi Min Trail with microphones. It was a regular smorgasbord out there.
 
Yeah, I kinda realised that a little later than asking the question. I’m formerly atheistic so when I come across things, I like to ask questions just to be more sure.
