I used to have a crush on a girl back in college. After graduating in 2004, we never saw each other until a year ago when we met again. She’s married and had a daughter. She was married out of the Church though. Since then, we always go out together for dinner and we are not dating. I know I still have feelings for her and recently I found that she likes me too and she wished she could be with me or knew me much earlier. However, I don’t think she wants a divorce and I do not wish that to happen too, for the sake of her daughter.

Is it sinful for falling in love with a married woman? If she ever divorces, is she allowed to remarry in Church? Her marriage was out of the Church. Does she needs to get annulment before dating and remarrying in Church?

To be perfectly frank with you, the validity of this woman’s marriage is none of your concern. What is your concern is that she is a legally married woman with a young daughter and that your mutual feelings and dinner dates (which is what they indeed are, whether or not you are willing to admit it) are putting her marriage and home life at risk. If you truly care about this woman, break off any and all relationship with her and get out of her life. She needs to concentrate on her marriage and family and you need to redirect your affections to a woman who is free to return them.
