Is it sinful to read casmo?

ok, I don’t like the fact that casmo has half nakid women on the cover and things like, “fifty ways to a better or----sim” in huge print on the front. they bug me a little bit, but sometimes, I find myself curious to read about them. I’m married and would never do anything, sexaully, that was a sin.

but I am kinda shy and don’t like to talk about “stuff” with my lady friends and sometimes I wonder what kind of information is out there. Are there lagitamate things we can try that would be fun and interesting? but would it be bad to buy that magazine? would I be giving my money to an evil company?

I’m not discontent with what my hubby and I have, but sometimes, I just wonder about other stuff.

I’m not sure if it’s sinful Sue… I do think that magazine is total trash though. It’s almost like porn for women because although nude pictures usually don’t do it for us… I think reading about all that steamy stuff does which is why romance novels are so popular.

I wouldn’t read it because I think that the writers of Cosmo are sooooo far from God’s view of marriage and sexuality… to me it would almost be like asking the Devil for “tips.” Thanks - but no thanks.

Plus if you read all that steamy stuff (that’s probably made up anyhow) you might begin to feel like the life you share with your husband is so ho-hum & dull. Those feelings could fester and before you know it, you’re flirting with the mailman.

OK, so kidding about the mailman. I just think those articles could plant seeds that could grow into VERY ugly weeds.

Cosmo is a trashy magazine that offers soft porn to women, thinly disguised as relationship counselling or consciousness raising.

I read the occasional copy to keep tabs on what is going on in the wicked world. That’s always the dilemma with marginal material. If you are reading it for sex tips, however, then I would suggest don’t. You’ve got a real relationship with your husband, and it is unlikely that there is anything third party suggestions can do to improve matters. It could easily have the reverse effect.

you’re probably right, it would be like asking the devil for sex tips. And it would probably make me wonder if my husband wasn’t doing all he is supposed to do.

You should avoid anything that tempts you to Sin.

Mathew 5:29-30

29If your right eye causes you to sin gouge it out and throw it away. If you think you have a real need for assistance/advice/instruction in the area of sexual intimacy, I’d suggest that you seek out Christian sources and counseling-- not “Cosmo” magazine. There are Christian books available to help couples with such matters.
