Is it sinful to *use* downloaded music?

I used to download (illegally) a lot of music and copy many DVDs before I decided that I will stop since I came to the understanding that it is a sin. I’ve never destroyed them (except for few that I found contrary to Christian believes) and now I’m wondering, am I still sinning? Also, am I sinning if I still listen to that music or watch those films?

Yes, you are still sinning. The media files have not changed their status - they are still called “illegal” and they are still on your PC.

My advice - get rid of them all.

Thank you. I just wasn’t sure and I secretly really wished it would be OK. Oh well, my HDD is 7 GB ‘lighter’ now. Praise the Lord!

I have a another question which I wondered about it for some time. I can’t decide. There are countries where downloading music isn’t illegal - only sharing is. Does that mean that people who do that there are not sinning or is this an example of the cases where simple morality is the determinant and not state laws?

I was looking for a place to download legal and free copies of an mp3 version of Pachelbel’s canon. There is one site which has a lot of them, but only in the midi format. And to convert from midi to mp3 you need to buy some software conversion materials. I am reluctant to purchase Pachelbel’s canon online, because since there are so many versions of it, there are only a few versions which interest me. This site has a nice version for free download in the midi format:
