Is it weird that I don't really watch or even desire to watch any current tv shows?

You are not alone, I used to watch TV shows all the time. I have no interest or desire to watch them now…I have friends that talk about game of thrones and tell me to watch it or soap operas but I don’t really have an interest. TV has got to immoral and a majority of the time it’s attacking God which really puts me off! I started watching a few seasons of American horror story a few years ago but I found it a total mockery of the Catholic Church in every way so I decided to do abit of digging about the show and found out the director was a lapsed Catholic that has beef with the church. Some offensive stuff though it should have been taken off air.
Ah yes GoT, every time a new season comes on I have people urging me to watch it. The other day I saw a convo on Twitter that went like this:
A: Hey , I started watching GoT, it’s pretty good but why are people naked all the time. It’s a bit much…
B: Oh don’t worry. Soon you’ll get used to it and it will seen odd if people are NOT naked or having sex.

So sad…

“… you’ll get used to it…” That’s how the Body of Christ, and people in general, were very slowly poisoned over a 40 year period.

I used to hear this on the radio whenever anybody complained about some music being bad/not moral: “Oh, that’s tame by today’s standards.” But there were no standards. What they meant was: “Just get used to it.” And just get used to the new bad thing, and the new bad thing after that…

That’s how it works.

Really? So this is what things have come to its the norm…I have heard incest goes on GOT to, I always think if anything is really popular be it tv programmes, movies or music etc it can’t be good.

I have noticed songs that are mainstream use a lot of swear words now as well…

What is GoT?

Game of Thrones
Sometimes I feel like I am from another planet. I have no idea what that is. I mean, I’ve heard the words, but never connected it to a TV show. Seriously, I thought it was a video game.

Another thing is I also have no idea who many of the ‘hottest celebrities’ are. If you spotted them in a supermarket and nudged me saying “My God!!! That’s Darryl Schmidlapp in aisle two!!!”, don’t expect any surprise in my eyes. 😃

Unfortunately yes and this convo was in Spanish. GoT is extremely popular in Latin America especially among teens/young adults :(😦

I just thought on another very popular program among teen - orange is the new black! Another anything goes show.

Incest is tame for GOT. The level of moral bankruptcy on that show is truly amazing. Its transcendent in its use of violence and sex to the point utter ridiculousness. If you haven’t seen it you’re not missing much. For fantasy Lord of The Rings is far far better.

As a child and teen I used to devour tv shows. After my reversion to the church I stopped watching a lot of shows because they were too racy or immoral. As the years have passed, I find myself watching tv less and less. As I’ve mentioned before I do watch k-dramas although not as much as when I first discovered them. I just don’t have a lot of interest in watching shows anymore.

I do spend a lot of time online and watching silly YouTube videos. I think part of it is also my ADD since yt videos are short. Unless a drama or show captures me pretty quickly I lose interest. Well anyways I don’t know if I want advice or what because this doesn’t affect my life much. Just, sometimes I feel super left out of conversations since I have no idea what people are talking about 🤷🤷
Your not alone, I was the same I used to watch a lot of TV but now I barely turn it on! It isn’t weird it’s a good thing.

I mainly watch The Andy Griffith Show. 😃 I have most, if not all, episodes memorized. Although I do watch the occasional Doctor Who episode.

I have not watched tv for a few years now. I found that most the stuff that I wanted to watch just had too much garbage in it anyways so when my decade old tv finally broke, I did not get a new one. When I finally did, I decided to only watch movies on it.

I like the older tv shows of my childhood better so I buy them on DVD.The only exception is that I like The Big Bang Theory. I buy every new season that comes out. It has some really crude sexual humor sometimes but it is a pretty tame show and I just fell in love with the characters.

I recently purchased a few seasons of “Family matters” on DVD. I had forgotten how the first episode ended with the family singing “Hes got the whole world in His hands” spontaneously. No more shows that I know of like that.

I don’t think it’s weird. For a lot of people, internet is the no. 1 source of entertainment. Netflix did change that though. After our family suscribed to it, I find myself watching it more.

I watch stuff like Sherlock, The Office, Jane The Virgin, Friends etc. It has immoral stuff in it, but I enjoy the comedy and it doesn’t really shape my views on certain issues IMO. Some people get easily influenced/aroused at immoral stuff on TV and it’s wise to avoid that. Others are not.

I do avoid over explicit stuff like Game of Thrones/Orange Is The New Black though. Stuff like that use sex/nudity way too much and if you have to resort to that, the storytelling is not compelling enough and hence a waste of time

Besides comedy, I do like shows such as Flash/Arrow/Supergirl 🙂

Influenced or aroused? No.

Disgusted? You bet.
