I’m wondering - in an effort to grow more temperate in eating, which has been a “slippery slope” for myself especially during the last few years, if it is wise to make a strict food plan - something like 3 meals a day, one plate no seconds, no snacks unless it’s a special event, etc. to live by. The only goal would be to live moderately with food, not using it as a recreation, to satisfy emotional needs, and to trust in God more. I recently attended a spiritual retreat where 3 moderate meals were offered, and of course, the participants had no access to food otherwise. We engaged in spiritual exercises. The retreat was so wonderful, of course because of its spiritual emphasis, and now returning to “the world” I yearn for that peace. In regard to food, I was contemplating this “plan” because it was so perfect when I was at the retreat. But now, surrounded again by food and access, I find myself again eating when not hungry, then struggling with guilt later, etc. I also feel that I am providing bad example to my children by snacking here and there, offering unnecessary food during late night movies, etc, just like our culture promotes. My weight is normal, so this is not really a physical issue. Thoughts?
