Is it worth going to Mass with mortal sin on the soul?

Hi,

I’ve heard that if you are in a state of mortal sin, you do not get any sanctifying grace from blessings, prayer etc. Normally I go to mass at least once or twice during the week as well as on Sunday – is there any point in doing that if I have mortal sin on my soul at the time? Will God care that I’m going if I’m not in a state of grace?

Hi Eric,

If you are in the state of mortal sin, forget about whether it is beneficial to go to Mass in that state or not and get your posterior to Confession post haste! Go to the sacristy and tell the priest that you desperately need to go to Confession. You don’t ever want to be in such state. We’re not talking life and death here. We’re talking ETERNAL life and ETERNAL death! Wake up!
