Basically, if someone has seen or perceived a lot of bad stuff, then is it okay for them to become emotionally numb to them?
Then where does the incentive to act against evil come from? Well, it can come from the inspiration to do good, or it could come from the inspiration to avoid or limit evil but w/o a so-called concomitant disgust or shock.
After all, does the disgust of a doctor make him better, worse, or indifferent in his ability to treat diseases?
And again, all sin is a serious matter but how can we hate or be disgusted at something that happens ubiquitously? One can be disgusted by defecation but one is not wholly repulsed when it happens to you nor when you see that it happens to others.
