I have faced this question myself. Actually, I haven’t used Pepsi for several years after learning that the company has been giving money to gay groups. My reaction to this situation is that Pepsi has already received the money used to buy it. It doesn’t help the company when you actually drink it. So I wouldn’t be against drinking it in this particular case. I must admit though that the Senomyx story has made me feel even stronger against using Pepsi products.
Perhaps it would help if someone listed leading Pepsi products here. The drink Pepsi Cola is only one of them, I know.

Just check their site or google it. Also see Kraft Foods and Nestle. Kraft owns many many brands.

Well, at the moment it’s merely a question of financially “boycotting” the company, trying as best you can not to give them money. If a friend comes over to your table and says, “here, I got you a Pepsi,” of course it’s not a sin to drink it.

But… once they perfect their “flavor enhancers” and start adding Senomyx products to the actual Pepsi products, will you be able to bring yourself to drink it knowing you are essentially committing an act of cannibalism?

Looks like it could possibly be true. At the very least they are partnered with a company that uses aborted fetus cells in it’s flavor enhancing research. While a product may not be approved or on the shelf yet I can tell you that the idea of anyone researching it is absolute madness. We are a sick sick world in need of a healer!

The verify your story was probably directed at the claim that consuming such products would involve cannibalism.

And it might. But not currently. No one would defend this if Jews were being used by a company to experiment enhancing flavor. No one would point out “well you aren’t actually eating Jews yet, we are just partnering with someone who is looking into it and experimenting with it.”

Its all semantics. If you want to make it absolutely true for the snope police then say pepsi is partnering with a company that is experimenting with aborted fetus cells for flavor enhancing.

The snopes idea is that when you drink Pepsi you are drinking people which is false. but this research is happening. The fact that it hasn’t or might not hit shelves yet should not be the focus.

I believe the point is that no part of a human embryo is going to be put in the products. Therefore it is not, and will not be a question of cannibalism. If something changed and senomyx started producing flavour enhancers that actually used human embryos as part of the flavour enhancer, then yes it would be a question of cannibalism. I am in no way condoning the use of embryonic cells in the development of flavour enhancers(or anything else for that matter) but it just isn’t true that senomyx is putting embryonic cells into it’s products, it’s using them to determine what sort of taste response different combinations of articial flavourings have, which is still wrong, but doesn’t amount to cannibalism. 🤷

Ok, it isnt cannibalism. What difference does that make?🤷

Oh, I don’t know – truth vs. distortion maybe?
What is the truth? That pepsi is partnering with a company that is using fetal tissue from an abortion to enhance flavors? Yup truth. that we are not eating fetuses Yup truth. If I told you that someone rapped and murdered and stole 5 dollars would you really make a big deal about it if they didn’t actually steal the 5 dollars?

Pepsi is paying a company to use aborted fetal tissue in its research for its products. Good job guys, no story here, turns out we aren’t eating the fetus. I guess everything is ok!

It’s not morally wrong to drink Pepsi, regardless of who buys it. Many people chose not to support the company because of it’s practices, and that is very noble. However, the act of drinking (or buying) Pepsi is, at most, extremely remote cooperation with an evil - nowhere near proximate enough to be sinful.

Oh my. I had no idea. This is awful. And they don’t deny it.

I’m not really sure why you think I’m trying to justify what they’re doing. 🤷 This thread presupposes that they are seriously wrong in what they are doing. I also explicitly said that I in no way approve of what they are doing and that it was wrong. I just wan to make sure people know what’s actually going on and don’t start falsely accusing people. Yes, senomyx and all the companies partnered with it are wrong in what they are doing, however, they are not trying to involve people in cannibalism. I don’t see how clarifying that point means I am justifying what actually is going on.

One has to eat, one has to drink, one has to get from point A to point B, one has to have clothes, and one needs modern technology to survive. Point is, I don’t worry about what issues fill in the blank supports.

Remember that when you buy a product, a portion of purchase goes to the store were you bought the product as well as revenue to your city/school district/state in the form of a sales tax.
