Hi Barry,
You are not required to go to church on Good Friday, although it is an appropriate thing to do. If you are between 18 and 59 and do not have any health issues that would be compromised, you must fast on Good Friday. This means one full meal and two lesser ones. If you are 14 and older, you must abstain from meat on that day.
Going to a party or movie or even tv is inappropriate on the day the our Lord suffered so much and died. Better to spend free time reflecting on Him and what He freely endured on our behalf on that day. It’s the least we can do. I will send you privately a reflection that can help you focus on this.
