Hi, my name is Christian. I am 16 years old. I am a proud catholic and I like to listen to music. This particular artist is a rapper but I don’t feel comfortable saying the name of the rapper but it’s really famous and well known. I’ve been listening to this artist for almost a decade and I just found out that in late 2017 he had an abortion because he didn’t know what to do but it doesn’t seem like He supports abortion because after he had one. He regretted it a lot and made a song about it and asked God to forgive his sins. So my question is, is it wrong to listen to someone to has had an abortion even though they regret?

Why would it be wrong? I don’t understand your thought process here.

If you can’t listen to music made by someone who committed a sin, you can listen to absolutely no music at all.

So, his girlfriend had an abortion, you mean? You said it was a he. The question is not whether it’s okay to listen to music by people who have sinned - of course it is, we’re all sinners - the question is whether the music itself is appropriate for a Christian. Also, it’s fine to name the artist, it’s not against the rules and you might get more accurate answers. Plus I’m nosy. 😋

Yeah, that makes sense, but I thought you shouldn’t support someone who made someone had an abortion. That’s why I asked that question.

Btw I know which artist you’re referring to now and I don’t think his music is at all suitable for a Christian. Since you’re under 18 I’d advise you to discuss it with your parents.

I was guessing that the OP’s first language is a language which doesn’t distinguish between masculine, feminine, and neuter pronouns. Often people who speak a language that doesn’t have gendered pronouns just use “he” for everything in English, whether talking about male or female humans, animals, or inanimate objects. Just an idea.

Year it is. But everybody I know listens to him and I’ve listened to him for a long time and I listen to other people too and I do listen to Christian music as well I’m just saying I’ve listened to him for a while and 16 is almost 18 so it’s not that much of a big deal I’m just worried that’s a sin.

Whether or not your friends listen to him, or you’ve been listening to him for a long time, or you’re nearly 18, doesn’t really make a difference to whether or not his music is appropriate for a Christian. I’m not judging you, don’t worry, I just think that music will be a bad influence, morally and psychologically. What we listen to and watch has an effect, both on our minds and souls. 🙂 Ask God in prayer if He thinks it’s okay.
P.S. - I’m an adult and I wouldn’t listen to that kind of music.

Eminem writes about many different topics and often very edgy.

The song you mean could be a fictional account used to make a point.

I’d ask your parents if it’s ok to listen to Eminem.

Ok but my parents already know I listen to him and if anything it helps me because I am a good person not a bad one and I do my best to be a good Christian but the music I listen to doesn’t define who I am I just listen to comfort and enjoyment that’s all. But thanks for the advices and help me.

The last time I saw Eminem on TV (performing at the Oscars or something), he kept grabbing his genitals while performing, which I thought was weird and kind of gross. Is this a thing that rappers do?! Maybe he was just wearing really uncomfortable pants that day…

And no it’s not a things rappers do, maybe for Spanish artists idk.

He had an abortion? Regardless, I don’t see an issue with it, especially since he has regretted it and has asked God to forgive his sin. (still not getting how a ‘he’ could have an abortion, though)

I meant his girlfriend had it but he told her to have it but then deeply regretted it.

It’s up to you brother, it’s your life. 🙂 It won’t help your spiritual life, though. God bless.
