Is it wrong to name our Guardian Angels?

I always beleived is was alright to name your Guardian angel, but just recently I was told that the church has come out and said it was wrong, that we shouldn’t try to humanize our Guardian Angel. Can you please help me with this? Thank you and God Bless.
