is it wrong to talk about problems?

is it true that it’s a sin to talk about our problems to others?

because it could be seen as complaining or detraction or venting? are all of those sins?

I understand that we shouldn’t gossip, but is it wrong to seek consolation from friends? or are we only supposed to talk to priests?

It depends on our motivation.

It is healthy and good to talk about our issues and problems in order to seek consolation and advice. “Venting” can also be good because it releases our frustration rather than holding on to it and letting it eat away at us. Times like those are indeed what friends are for.

However, it is unhealthy and bad to gossip, complain just to tear down others, or throw a pity party for ourselves.
