Is it wrong to think this way?

Can you help me with what I think might be a little bit of protestant thinking?

Should I expect a little bit of spiritual nourishment, encouragement, admonishment, and exhortation from Mass?

Is it okay to go outside of my parish to another church where I can hear a homily that “feeds” me as a Christian? Or is my thinking way off?

When I attend my local parish, where I don’t know anyone, I feel so lonely; but if I attend a parish with more mature homilies by Dominicans and a more mature liturgy, and there are people I know, I feel like I’ve been to Mass.

I’m posting this because I want someone to correct my thinking if it’s wrong.

I KNOW JESUS is PRESENT at both Masses.

As long as it is a Catholic Church, you are free to go to any one that you want. While it is usually recommended that you go to your geographic parish (which ever one is closest), if you feel drawn to another for any reason, feel free to go.

Dude-your not alone. I try to go to a mass where I will feel closer to God, can pray better, and feel more accepted while going. I stopped going to a mass in my area because something there makes me feel uncomfortable, even coldly so.

The church I attend now is fantastic.

You’re not required to attend your local parish. You’re simply required to attend Mass at a Church in communion with Rome. If you feel a strong connection to the Dominican church, go for it!

What they said.

Sometimes a priest or deacon or music or the people don’t click with an individual, and there’s nothing wrong with changing parishes to where you feel more comfortable.

So, no, it’s not wrong to think that way. The Church is made up of people, and we’re all different.

You receive graces from the Mass and receiving the Eucharist in particular. Mass brings heaven and earth together. By receiving the Eucharist, you are physically uniting with Christ. The Mass is not like a Protestant worship service.

No problem at all so long as it is a Catholic church (in full communion with Rome).
