When I thought of this question, The Heliand
came to mind. Basically, it is a recount of the life of Jesus, except it is told in the style of a Germanic epic. It was written to make Jesus appealing to the Saxon heathens and much of the original story was changed to fit the world view of the Saxon audience. A book that examines this poem can be purchased here: amazon.com/gp/product/0195097203/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d0_g14_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0CJHJ5NC843TBMEB4V0Z&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846
