Is it wrong to want to follow the whole Bible? Or celebrate the Biblical Holidays?

I am a fallen away catholic that has been seeking the Jewish roots of the faith, a better understanding of church history and the whys behind our christian celebrations, and holidays. Can someone help me to better understand this? For example, my current understanding about following Torah is that, ALL 12 Tribes were there when Moses gave all of God’s laws. Doesn’t that mean the laws are binding upon us all? The fact that the dispora happened and the 10 were scattered doesn’t release the 10 from following the Law right? Not because it is what gives salvation but out of Love for God, isn’t that why Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments?

See my confusion?

Jesus fulfilled the Old Law and replaced it with the New. The basic principles are the same (since God does not change), but not everything carries over from the Old Testament, for example, the old ceremonial laws were established to prefigure, and prepare us for, the Messiah. Now that the Messiah has come it would be a serious insult to Him and to His Sacrifice to go back to something inferior.

Jesus did not release the Old Testament

yes would nt it be nice if you heard from the holy Spirit?-- or if james 1:4 actually worked for you?

there are plenty of commentaries out there-- i am familiar with the hebrew roots movement-- and recognize what the message- is-- and every one has an opinion–

but does i get you baptized in the Holy Spirit-- ?

this is what separates one group from another –

In short, Catholics follow the whole Bible. If we kept the old testament holy days we would be ignoring the large chunk that shows that we dont need them and we have something better. Of course, there are those who interpret that all away, but then thereare those who can interpret anything away.

Very simply, if we love God with our whole heart, mind and strength and love our neighbor as we love ourselves, we are keeping all of the commandments. As far as the ceremonial washings, etc., are concerned, the meaning has been deepened and fulfilled in Christ. We are washed clean by him. We are made righteous by him, period.

I am not talking about the ceremonial or rabbinical laws. I am talking about the commandments given to Moses and the 12 Tribes by God. What I am not getting is how can the Law be done away with when Jesus said “Do not think I came to do away with the Law” Paul also states this. He is the fulfillment of the law but I don’t see that as a license to break Gods law. If God is the same yesterday, today and forever how could He all of a sudden make a seperate set of laws for gentiles? That doesn’t make sense to me. We worship the same God, with the same Bible, who sent the same Jewish Messiah for all of His people… So what am I not getting? I am really trying to understand the WHY behind all of the changes… Just because we can? Help me understand please.

God does not change. But the way he has revealed himsrlf over time has changed. We can therefore not be surprised when those living after Christ have different memorials and practices. Ours sre built on the old, and are better. Circumcision vs baptism, sabbsth vs sunday … passover vs resurrection day … lamb sacrifice vs the Mass. Etc.
