Well, speaking for myself, our church only has ONE MASS scheduled for January 1, at 10:00 AM.
I cannot attend, as I am working today.
However, when I think about it, since we have a very large parish, I donāt see how they can call it today a Holy Day when they only schedule one Mass, whereas the church is normally packed with standing room only for all the Masses for Christmas:
3 on Christmas Eve, plus Midnight Mass, and two masses on Christmas Day.
If everyone fulfilled their obligation for today at my church, it would be like trying to get 100 people into a small car, not to mention parking.
If I were not working today, I would have gone, but I would have shown up about two hours before the Mass.
