If only that was the majority of people’s definition of feminazism you might be on to something.

For me gender equality is a bizarre ideal. We should definitely be equally respected and appreciated. But for our differences as well as our similarities.

This idea that women need to be able to do every last thing men can, is nonsense and defies nature and logic.

Read the Gospel of Luke in the light of the socio economic norms of the day. Jesus blew the current idea of women and their roles out of the water

Women are placed on par with their male counterparts in this Gospel

Yeah, but I’m talking equal salary, equal chance to work, men and women should both do chores at home and change the diapers…

We don’t know his direct opinions based on equal pay etc on scriptures alone. From it, we can deduce he doesn’t approve of how women were treated at that time.

Based on the church, we would know that he approves of equal pay for equal work, equal opportunities in the professional field etc since the church has expressed support for women who work and spoke against the injustice they faced.

Outside of the priesthood, I don’t see why that would be an issue.

It’s not an issue. Women pretty much already do every last thing men can except become priests and fulfill the role of a father to children.

Exactly. I wonder what she thinks men do that women should be barred from. Talent and knowledge aren’t gendered things.

You mean is Jesus a feminist?

And by your definition, yes. Refer to the CCC.

(the priesthood is not a right. A man does not have a right to the priesthood)

Bingo. Just as being the Mother of God is not a right, no one has the right to act In Persona Christi. It is a gift from God.

Seems like some of you believe in, what I perceive to be at least, close to the borders of the effeminisation of men.

I don’t share that ideal (even remotely) at all and believe in, what’s likely popularly considered today, a more archaic or ‘ancient’ position.

I hold that because I find more faith in ancient custom than I do in modern progressivism which just wants to destroy gender entirely (something I view as sacred)

And I’m also not allergic to being a woman and inferior to men on several levels.

I should be paid what I deserve based upon my capability. Not be patronised by handouts and courtesies just because I have a different anatomy.

I won’t bother to comment more on the topic. Women are NOT men. Nor do I wish them to be.

Both genders are different with inherent natural strengths and weaknesses. One would hope people could engage their brain and accept that. Instead of trying to brainwash our society with forced equality bordering on some sort of dictatorship and bigotry.

You keep talking like this and your liable to receive a marriage proposal via IM 😂

Well yeah, there’s that, but that isn’t in particular what I had in mind.

“Priesthood” (as in ordination, not baptism) is metaphysically associated to the male sex in a similar way that “fatherhood” is. But it isn’t something a person has a right to. A man can be rejected to the priesthood for a thousand different reasons.

Nor does a person have a right to marriage, children, yachts, etc.

But a person does have a right to life, to not be treated with prejudice, etc, on account of the inherent dignity of the human person. Catholics also have a right to the sacraments, assuming they are properly disposed.

There are zero instances I can think of where a right would apply to one sex but not the other. “Rights” are more of a secular term, but in Catholic teaching, people have dignity, and this dignity comes by being human.
