Although it can’t be confirmed, there was a sign at the entrance to the Temple that said, “Gentiles Welcome! Please leave your foreskins at the door”!
Ok… maybe I just made that up.![]()

You asked me to pardon youWhat in the world are you talking about, here?
I will promise not to slag mothers of priests and French, but I’m not exactly sure what “slagging” is (although I have an idea… it certainly sounds derogatory) and I have no clue why it entered the conversation.
Where i live SOB means son of a B*tch.S.O.B. priest (pardon my French)
Ok… so where did I slag the mother of a priest or our French Brethren? And what do our Middle Eastern brothers have to do with what we understand. You asked me to pardon you
Where i live SOB means son of a B*tch.
Slagging means to speak ill of.
Where i live people do this as an expression of their feelings not judgement about the persons mum.
Its not for me now but is a boy was i supposed to ride my bike? A bit hard to ride a bike so far after being assaulted by “the authority of G-d” even walking home after the experience would not be easy.Traveling 100kms to find another priest is not a hardship, IMO, in order to get absolution. But Texas people think differently from what I understand. In my case, I have 20 priests within 50 miles (80kms) that I could seek out.
How many priests assaulted you?I must admit, you caught me totally unawares regarding the refusal of absolutuion, for I’ve never run across a priest who’s refused to absolve me. The only times I’ve heard of this phenomena is where the sinner is unrepentant and plans on continuing to commit the same sin over and over.
As a young boy it is difficult to see between authority and denying their authority. As a boy one would not think to question the authority as you do by suggesting going to find the authority in an other priest. But in my example, in the 2nd (or “makeup”) confessional, I would explain my first confession and the fact that the priest refused absolution. I have a feeling the priest would not look to fondly on the first priests refusal.
No i was talking about the priest that did not forgive ad he who was assaulted forgiving.I’m not sure I understand this point, so forgive my density. Whether or not the priest is in a state of mortal sin or not, is irrelevant to my confession.
Let’s look at a rather graphic example. A priest could get drunk, pick up a hooker, have a go at her, then get out of bed and hear my confession. If he forgives me, I am absolved from my sin.
From my explanation, you can tell if I’m understanding you correctly or not. If not, please steer me in the right direction.
God Bless!
Forgive me, i thought you asked to be pardoned.Ok… so where did I slag the mother of a priest or our French Brethren? And what do our Middle Eastern brothers have to do with what we understand.
As a boy, I would have caught a ride with my parents. Its not for me now but is a boy was i supposed to ride my bike? A bit hard to ride a bike so far after being assaulted by “the authority of G-d” even walking home after the experience would not be easy.
Never have I been assaulted by a priest. Why do you keep bringing up priests and assaults? How many priests assaulted you?
As a boy, one should ask their parents. My parents would have given me the same advice as I gave you.As a young boy it is difficult to see between authority and denying their authority. As a boy one would not think to question the authority as you do by suggesting going to find the authority in an other priest.
I do not see it as questioning the priests authority. The Phoenician woman surely didn’t let her stop from asking for the scraps off the table. The woman didn’t mind pestering the magistrate to decide a judgement in her favor. If the priest holds Our Fathers authority going else where would be to question the authority.
My point was you assert Our Fathers authority is different in different priests.
I know all the priests in my diocese but did not as a boy.
Ahhhhhh!!!Forgive me, i thought you asked to be pardoned.
You said the priests mother is a B*tch.
You implied speaking like that is what French do.
IME people from other cultures take such speaking literally, and it reflects on every one and the faith. This can close the door to sharing faith. The mind set is who wants to be part of a religion that speaks like that of some ones mother.
Please accept not every one is born to your parents. They are a blessing to you.As a boy, I would have caught a ride with my parents.
because it is relevant to our discussion.Never have I been assaulted by a priest. Why do you keep bringing up priests and assaults?
Praise be to Him for your parents and His goodness in parents that are not like yours. As a boy, one should ask their parents. My parents would have given me the same advice as I gave you.
I do if the priest has Our Father authority and i need to go else where and get different answers His authority is not consistent.I do not see it as questioning the priests authority.
She questioned Yeshua (pbwh) so we could all see the truth from Our Father. The Phoenician woman surely didn’t let her stop from asking for the scraps off the table.
I dont see the woman asking many different priests but is liken to pleading with Our FatherThe woman didn’t mind pestering the magistrate to decide a judgement in her favor.
Sure our bad experience helps us grow but i dont buy Our Father gives us assaulting priests deliberately.Maybe God put that insolent priest (this is only a hypothetical situation, mind you) in my path to test my perseverance. I don’t know. All I do know is that I would be persistent until I received absolution, without doing anything under-handed to get it.
Then you did not read my post, i told you i understand, i told you others dont.Ahhhhhh!!!
I love cultural differences!! If a priest won’t forgive a clearly humble and contrite sinner, then (in my opinion) that priest is abusing his position. Americans would call someone like that an SOB (as you well understood the meaning of…). “Pardon my French” is simply meaning “I apologize if my vulgarity offends you”.
Either you are a very funny man in a very obscure way, or the cultural divide between the two of us is even larger than I thought!
I don’t think anyone ever claimed that God gave us “assaulting priests” deliberately. And how is that germane to the point? There are sinful priests - all of us are sinful. But God works through sinful people, as He has all through Salvation History.Sure our bad experience helps us grow but i dont buy Our Father gives us assaulting priests deliberately.
It is our free will that allows us to be misled, sadly. And yet free will is a gift - Amen!I would suggest it is by the blessing of the free will He gives us that allows men to be misled by the darkness.
I was more referring to your original “if you refrain from insulting mothers and our French brothers…” I wasn’t entirely sure you completely understood and didn’t want to jump to conclusions. Then you did not read my post, i told you i understand, i told you others dont.
I’m sorry, I don’t recall your “testimony from your experience”. I’m sure its my fault in popping in and out of these threads so often, it seems like I don’t have enough time to read them as thoroughly as I should. Can you direct me to the post(s) where your testimony is?The great apostle Paul (pbuh) shows to be all things to all people.
I offered you testimony from my experience how it is seen by some people of other cultures, there are many people not raised as you were.
Ben, not to run into the thread late, which is exactly what I’m doing, but I think you are missing the point as well.
Jesus was an observant Jew, to a degree.
Be my guest!Ben I would also be happy to discuss Jeremiah 30:31-34 with you, as well. I think I may be able to share some perspective that may at least shed some light on a different point of view.
**Oh! I got you! You mean by the above, that Gentiles had to be allowed into the Covenant without conversion to Judaism? NotWorthy, I am sorry but you have let me down. I did think you were much more intelligent than that. The PROMISE to the Gentiles was already there, but not the practice. This was evidenced by the sign above the gate at the Temple that went from the “Court of the Gentiles” to the inner court that said, “Any Gentiles who pass these gates are responsible for their own deaths” (paraphrasing in words, but not in meaning).
Oh yeah, Gentiles were always allowed into the Covenant, as is plain to see. They just has to revoke the Gentile-ness (?).
Jesus was neither a liar nor a lunatic. Liars and lunatic are those who claim that Jesus was what he was not. Jesus was a Jewish man; and a Jewish man does not claim to be God incarnate, unless metaphorically.Jesus said he was the Messiah (prophesied by his people) and the Son of God. Then, either he was a liar, a lunatic, or God Himself. His words, actions and miracles don’t prove him to be a liar; his words, actions and miracles don’t prove him to be a lunatic either; if I were to deny all that converges and identifies him as the Lamb of God found in the book of Revelation, then I’d have to say he’s neither of the three, which is impossible. You see, who/what else then could he be? Who/what else but the Almighty come down to earth in human flesh - the one prophesied who would free men from their captivity to sin by taking upon Himself the sins of the world? Isn’t that exactly what Jesus did by dying innocently for us a criminal’s death on a cross and resurrecting so we could enter heaven and be saved?
Here is the original you refer to in this post that has my personal testimonyI was more referring to your original “if you refrain from insulting mothers and our French brothers…” I wasn’t entirely sure you completely understood and didn’t want to jump to conclusions.I’m sorry, I don’t recall your “testimony from your experience”. I’m sure its my fault in popping in and out of these threads so often, it seems like I don’t have enough time to read them as thoroughly as I should. .PS i will pardon your slagging the mother of the priest and our French brethren but encourage you to refrain in future. In my culture we do the same and see it as an expression of feeling not judgement. **My middle eastern friends are culturally different and dont understand it as you and i do. **Some take offence for G-d and it reflects on your fellow believers to be in error. Christians usually aspire to be all things to all people and we are fast becoming a multi cultural globe
