Is Jesus the only "human" who ever came back to life?

Jesus was resurrected but is He the only one that has ever come back to life after dying?

Lazarus was brought back to life by a miracle from Jesus but Jesus said Lazarus was only sleeping. Why did He say that? Was Lazarus just in a coma or something like that? Also, how about the other people that Jesus brought back? Were they really dead or just sleeping? How about the saints that are said to have brought people back from the dead?

No, these folks really were dead. Even then, they knew asleep from dead.

Our LORD used the word for sleep as a comforting euphemism for death. Sleep is not at all fearsome; death is; but the sleeping body resembles the dead body; so the euphemism was apt.

HE did in fact raise these people from death. But all that happened was to restore the life to their natural, human bodies. One day each of them died again.

Our LORD however, came out of HIS death as a “spiritual body” (pneumatikon soma). HE will never face death again. As far as we know, HE was the first to ever achieve this.

Did you ever see the show I Survived… Beyond and Back on bio? One episode featured a 16 yr old that had a heart attack & was clinically dead for over 20 mins & finally came back w/o brain or physical damage. Little bit of a slur to his speech, but that’s all.
 
Well, I thought people have been brought back from the dead. My hubby said no but I think he is getting it mixed up with “never to die again.” I didn’t think Lazarus’ sisters buried him while he was in a coma but it did happen back before doctors knew better.

In the movie, “For Greater Glory” it was on the screen at the last that one of the boys came back to life after he was killed. I thought maybe he just recovered and wasn’t hurt as much as they thought he was.

We don’t hear much about those who came back to life or what they had to say. I wonder why? Did they go to heaven, purgatory, see God? Maybe they don’t want to talk about it. Some do, but they only say they are not afraid of death anymore.
 
There certainly have been near deaths that were believed to be deaths; the onnly reasons that doesn’t happen now is the modern process of embalming.

That, in fact, is why they began the custom of “wakes”. It wasn’t to allow everybody to cry around the dead body, it was to give the victim a chance to “wake up” if he was going to.

But we know that that was not the case of Lazarus. He had been dead four days. In that time, no breathing, cold skin, etc. assures one is dead.

So in at least one case, our LORD restored someone who was incontrovertibly defunct.

It still was only a human resuscitation and not an eternal resurrection.

Yes, the signs and miracles of Our Lord Jesus Christ included raising some people from the dead. It was a temporary raising from the dead, as they were to die again at the end of their earthly life.

After death our soul is judged by the Lord and we enter Heaven or Hell without our body. (Purgatory if necessary).

Then, at the general resurrection at the end of time, our body will be restored to our soul and we will be united to it forever in Heaven or Hell. The damned will have their indestructible bodies with them in hell. The saved will then have a glorified body like our Lord Jesus Christ, to be happy with Him forever in Heaven.
 
In Christian belief…and attested to in scripture, Jesus is the only human who raised himself from the dead to never die again. He raised himself as the first fruits of the resurrection in a glorified spiritual body that will never know corruption.

I’m just wondering where Lazsarus went during those 4 days he was dead. Maybe he did not want to come back. The bible doesn’t say.

Both Peter 1st and later Paul raised a dead person back to life.

NO; :), that is NOT what Jesus said AND MENT.

“Sleeping” is a term of the time synomous with death

Also on the day Jesus rose from the dead, didn’t Saints awaken and appear to many people as well.

Yes, and there has been an undercurrent of belief that when Jesus ascened into heaven…these saints did too…'he is the first fruits of the resurrection…"…in Catholic/Orthodox belief, Mary is in heaven body and soul…so even though Lazarus and Jarod’s daughter died again, these “risen saints” are the first to be raised into their glorified bodies.
