Is Jesus waiting for you?

Hi all, I want to let you know I love Jesus just as much as I believe you love Him.

I like to share something that is on my heart

God gave me the words to say to my Sunday school in describing man’s attitude towards Jesus. I promise you I am talking to myself with what I am about to say.

In the corporate world, there is a chain of seniority. Lets say you are the CEO of a company. I just got hired on as a part time janitor who lives in a run down home in a not so safe section of the city.

Realistically, If I invited you, the CEO, for dinner at my house and I let you know I would like to spend an hour with you after dinner to “pick your brain” to help me with my dream of becoming a successful businessman, what are the chances of you agreeing to having dinner with me?

In my business experience I will be lucky if I cross paths with the CEO when in my workplace.

**Doesn’t the CEO have more important things to do than spend time with a part time janitor, especially risk his life in an unsafe neighborhood.

I do not know if the following applies to you. For those it does, I pray this will be a blessing to you.

As a Roman Catholic, I pictured Jesus as the “CEO” of the church.

That in the Apostolic chain, Jesus would give His apostles…the pope, cardinals, bishops, priests better privelges and spend more
time with them as He would with me. After all they were the “senior management” of the church. I was part of the church body but I only had access to the priest, my “immediate supervisor” in the church.
I never gave a thought to invite Jesus to have personal time with me, I thought He had more important things to do mainly spend His time with all the “senior management” of the church (priests, bishops, cardinals, and pope)

When I left the RC church there is something I found out that is quite ironic.

I was right in the fact that Jesus is the head of the church.
However, it is Jesus who is available 24/7, and is calling us to spend quality time with Him.
We in our humaness become like the busy “CEO” of the corporate world and some of us find ourselves too “busy” doing other things which distracts us from spending the quality time Jesus desires to spend with us.

Friends, it is scary for me to break down the 24 hours in a day into how I spent that time.
For me, Sleep, breakfast, lunch, dinner, work, recreation, rest time, date time, tv…
at the end of all that I am down to minutes not hours.

How about you?

That means I spend less than 15 minutes of quality time a week with Jesus.

And to think I, a low level employee, would be excited to spend just 1 hour of quality time with the CEO of my company,
to learn how to be a successful businessman.

I wonder If I am the only one that is guilty of letting Satan’s temptations get the best of me

How many of us really spend the amount of quality time with Jesus which He desires to have with us?

Friends, at one time in my life I heard that Jesus loves me. I did not quite understand that at first. It was explained this way.

Just imagine that emotion you had or believe you will have when you first fell/will fall in love and knew/will know this is the person that you commited/will commit) your life to as your husband or wife.

I am talking about that deep passionate love for each other. Now above all you are/will be to each other, you also are/will be each other’s best friend, true?

In John 15, if a Christian does not take the “you” personally they may miss something very special directly from Jesus’ heart to yours…

13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (you) . 14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Just imagine Jesus knocking on your door and when you answered it, the first words that come out of Jesus mouth were,

“Hi, I was in the area, and I stopped by to let my friend, which you are to me, know that I was thinking about you”

Your sentiment is obviously heartfelt and sincere, and I agree with what you are trying to say. To be a Christian that does not spend time with Jesus is a contradiction in terms --like a husband or wife that does not spend time with their spouse or a parent with their child. “Quality time” time does not only apply to our earthly relationships.

What a blessing we have as Christians to have the Sacred Scripture to listen to the Lord’s words to us almost anytime we want. What a double blessing Catholics have that are able to slip into a Church where there is an adoration chapel and sit in the Presence of the Eucharistic Lord for as long as we like – us looking at Him, and Him looking at us, just being in each others company like the closest of relationships.

If this is how you felt as a Catholic, it is no wonder you left. How many people leave home under similar simple misunderstandings of Catholic life as these? I hope you are learning more about what the Catholic Church really teaches, and that the Lord will lead you back to the fullness of the Faith, much of which you most obviously seem to already enjoy. The door is always open.

I think this is something we all have on our heart: to be close to Jesus as much as we can, as we are quite in love with Him!
But I will turn back a question: How can we meet Jesus today?

And I agree that reading the Bible is a way to spend time with Christ. But is it the only way?
We can meet Him in prayer, at the mass… and in the poor people we help, in the ill people we visit!!! And is all time spent with Jesus as He told us that everything we have done to this little one we have done to Himself.
As we can meet Him in His Church! Remember what He told to Paul: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” (and Paul was prosecuting His Church not Himself). I haven’t understood this way of meeting Jesus for years. I new that He is in His body, the Church, but I understood this as a mystical thing!

But I think the truth is other way around. He is not the head of His Church, He is His Church and is present in His Church as the Church is His body. OK, but this is theory, and it was the same for me for years. Years in which I searched to be near to Him praying more, studying more, attending the Mass and having the Eucharisty as often as possible…
Yet, I think like you, I was feeling that I miss something, that that cannot be all, that if I don’t have Jesus with me in all the moments of me life, what value that part of life have!!!
Then I meet a Catholic community, some persons that were part of a movement, Communion and Liberation. And as one of them invited me to diner (and it was the second time I was seeing Her) I felt that there in the mid of this persons Jesus was present. And not because they were praying in that moment!!
At the beginning I did not understood how this was possible, then I wanted to know them better, so that I could understood that Presence!! I cannot say now I understand fully, I think I will not fully understand ever, because the presence of the Lord in His Church is a Mystery after all.
But I understood that in the loving way they were behaving with me, at that moment a stranger, it was Jesus love that was reaching me. I have understood that in the love and the patience with whom they were visiting persons that were in hospital for AIDS with none to visit them (and they are doing it all weeks at least for 2 ours a week per person!) they are bringing Jesus to that person.
I don’t know if I was clear, but now as I am part of this movement I try to learn what means:

Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

And I’m learning that more one give his life for the others: for the Church, for his community as part of the Church, for the poor, for growing up children… more it gain!! And he/she have Jesus and spend so much time with Jesus as much he/she gave freely to the others!
