Is John the Baptist greater than Mary?

I wondered if this Jesus’ statement recorded in Luke 7:28 includes Mary, the Mother of God, who I always thought was the greatest of all saints. Have you ever heard, or read, any discussions on this?
Luke 7:28 "I tell you, among those born of women, no one is greater than John"
