It is the larger question indeed, but not mineI just would like to know if sitting there is the betrayer or Matthias.
As for your question, I found that it would be the Apostles, pluis 12 other from the Church, so to show the beginning and the end, or the 24 courses of priests in Chroniles,or again 24 divisions of singers.
This however doesn’t tell us, whether Judas is one of them or not.
I hardly think Judas would be counted here. He did not follow him. He betrayed him. All the others including his replacement followed Jesus to the end.
