Is just thinking about God a form of prayer?

Throughout my day at work I find myself constantly thinking about God. Not necessarily “praying” or talking to Him and the Blessed Mother, but just thinking about them. Their attributes, ways to get to know them better, ways I offend them, dreaming about being closer and what that would mean.

I would like some (name removed by moderator)ut on from more spiritually mature folks on whether you would consider that a form of prayer and if you think God responds to such things as it were prayer?

It is a form of prayer.

There are different types of prayer and different levels of prayer and this is one of them. I will send you information on the levels and types of prayer later.

Of course, thinking about God is a form of prayer. When you are thinking about Him you are connecting with Him. It’s also possible that God is trying to tell you something during these quiet moments. Remember, we are told to be quiet and listen.

Sounds like what you have there is recollection of the presence of God, which disposes you for infused contemplation.

That sounds like meditation to me.

I’ll just go ahead with the disclaimer that my spiritual maturity is way behind some of the contemplatives around here who will have some really good insight for you if they drop in.

I think that you have recollection and meditation going on there, and if what you’re doing results in your wanting to be more holy, then it sounds like God is responding to what you’re doing.

I think about Jesus, how he lived, taught, and faced adversity, always. Yes…it’s prayerful.

Most of my day is far from quiet. I work in a fast pace, from all sides environment and I just find that in the midst of it I am always thinking about God in one way or another. Then again, I find very impure thoughts on my mind at times too throughout the day, but that is another post.

I find myself doing the very same thing sometimes. Whenever I have a quiet moment, I sometimes think about Him and how His ways work. I’m only a Catholic-in-training (I like that term. ), and a lot of things about God still confuse me. As I begin my journey, I hope to understand more so I can better appreciate Him.
