Is kissing a sin?

Just wondering whether kissing is a sin. I have seen it listed in several books of the examination of conscience. However I dont share the same view because sometimes kisses even between lovers on the lips have no lust involved, it is just a way of showing affection. And it helps a couple stay pure by showing affection without having sex.(according to me)
