I think that knitting is a wonderful, relaxing pastime or avocation and could in no way be considered “manual labor” of the type that we should avoid. Now, if you were getting PAID, it it might be another story:)

I do not believe so. No work period on Sundays is an Orthodox Jewish tradition (e.g. even turning light switches on).

If you enjoy knitting, it isn’t “work” for you, so enjoy it on Sunday and every other day! 👍

I have been knitting a baby blanket for a catholic here on the forums that is praying God blesses her with a child.

Am I sinning, by knitting this blanket which I do happen to have more time for on a Sunday?

I think God knows my spirit and intent, and the law above all is perfected in Jesus Christ

Love thy neighbor
Love Jehovah God with all your heart

I think I am okay on this one, as you are.

Would Jesus look at the letter of the law, or the spirit and intent?

Personally, I don’t do anything on Sundays for money. I do alot of crafting and am a craft artist by trade, so I put aside projects I’m doing with the hopes of making money and if I feel like cross stitching, sewing, etc. on Sunday I concentrate on things I’m making for gifts or my own enjoyment. It’s a great time of the year for that too, with Christmas three months away! Time to get started on ornaments and presents! 🙂

Not challenging anyone, but curious about not making money on sunday via a catholic POV in line with the magesterium. And citations.
