I love the beautiful ‘Golden Arrow’ prayer. However, I’ve been wondering in what sense the words ‘adorable’ and ‘adored’ are meant when they are used within the prayer.
The prayer is as follows:
“May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.”
Is latria due to the Names of God and Jesus? Or do we simply venerate Their Names? I understand that we give latria to the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ, as well as to His Bodily aspects, such as His Sacred Head, His Precious Wounds, His Precious Blood, His Holy Face, and so on. Since His Name is not a part of His Body, I’m unsure as to whether it is adored in terms of latria or…hyperdulia, perhaps?
I’ve searched online for a few hours, but I can’t find an answer to my question. Maybe I’m just not using the search engines right…
Thanks for reading and, in advance, for any help. God bless…
