Is liturgical gesturing permitted in Mass

You may be right, but the sign of the cross is a liturgical gesture.
 
I think we must only follow what the GIRM states regarding gestures in the liturgy of the Mass. Anything that is over to the specified gestures can lead to abuse.

Liturgical dancing can be regarded as an abuse.

No. When children are called up and music is played and they use gesturing (sort of like a sign language).
 
I agree with Michael Welter what pray tell is “Liturgical Gesturing”? I mean does that include waving at somebody in a respectful manner at a weekday mass attended by 70 people instead of 700 on Sunday during the exhange of the sign of peace instead of shaking their hand because they are three rows away?
 
I know, I know! A liturgical gesture is when the priest stares at the altar boy and gestures toward where the kid should be.

Actually, surely it means things like behavior near the altar or tabernacle, bowing, the sign of the cross, etc.?

This sounds like an attempt to mask litugical dance as something similarly unnecessary. Are the children in the sanctuary when this happens or are they standing around the guitarist?
 
Anyone remember the comic strip Mandrake the Magician who would gesture hypnotically and the evil forces would be defeated? I think he may have been the one who used the IB Stick with its huge jewel to work his will. Is that the kind of gesture were talking about? 😃 😃 .

children move arms over their heads in giant circles.

I escaped and now my daughters sing O Santisima in Latin with no gestures.
My heart goes out to you.

But here is a gesture that sain Paul recommends;
are you able to do it ?

The same Baptism in the Holy Spirit
When I got “WHOMPED” …it was right after a Saturday AM Mass. Nov. 1965
It felt like God had roared right through my house in a fastmoving train…
right through me !

When I came “back to my senses” I was uttering rapidly in an unknown language, which felt wonderfully GOOD !

as I became aware …I stopped !
and said to my self "* What was that ?*

Well, I am still doing it… and I hope to do it before the Throne of God.

I personally believe that praising God in an unknown language, with Heart and hands lifted to Him … was made
specifically for Worship at Eucharistic Liturgty…
in practice for when we see Him face to face !
