I do not claim to know Gods will, I claim to know some things about God that He has revealed to me. God has revealed Himself to a certain degree to all mankind.

Yes, math most definitely is subjective. Just because it makes sense to you or me does not make it any less subjective. If you want to say math is not subjective then the fact of Gods existence is not subjective either. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it is not fact or it is not known by others.

Math is absolutely objective. If I say that 2 + 2 = 5 the who is anyone to say that it doesn’t? If my logic has proved to me that it is 5 then that is just as valid as you saying it is 4. It is one mans logic against another mans logic. As you said, we all see things differently. Who is to say that you have not missed some fact or that you have simply over analyzed the situation? It is your opinion against mine. Add to this that you can’t even prove to me that you exist, you think you can prove to me that 2 + 2 = 4?

But then again, everything that I have said and you have said and even this sentence itself is subjective. Is there any point in even speaking? It becomes complete insanity. All reality is insanity without absolute truth.
wow man. i don’t even know how to anser
your math logic. i think even other catholics
would be hard pressed to back you up on that.

i’ll let you think about that one for a while.

I have made some changes to my last post - both grammatical/spelling corrections and additions or clarifications -so please take those changes into account.

You must take my arguement as a whole. The point is that without God there is no such thing as math and even if there is it is subjective. God is the gaurantor of all objective reality. Do I actually say that 2 + 2 = 5? No, in reallity I would agree that it is 4 but it is an example that I am using to show a point that is logically true.

imo, the only truth humans are capable
of knowing lies in math. as far as truth in religion?..
to me, your guess is as good as the next guy’s.

you said you knew ABSOLUTE truth in your religion,
yet when i asked you who goes to heaven and who
goes to hell, you didn’t know. you said only god knows.
i agree. only god knows.
Your question is silly and irrelevant. The only absolute truth that we know is what has been revealed to us through Jesus Christ and the Church. To ask who goes to heaven and who goes to hell is nonsense. But to ask if there is a heaven and a hell, the answer is quite different.

if you don’t know who gets to go to heaven or hell,
you should read the bible more.

what is love?!

baby don’t hurt me… don’t hurt me… no more…

Love is divine communion. It is communion with the divine nature. There is no other place or form in which love is found. Consequently, love and religion can not be separated.

jimmy, i beg to differ. religion and love are not the same.

but have you wondered if maybe
adam ate the fruit out of love for eve?

Love has two aspects: that which is understood but incorrect and that which is not understood but is correct.

Typically, love is seen as attraction and a physiological responce, especially sexually, to a person. The responce may be triggered by the thought of the person, as well as by being around them. This is not love. That is a genetic adaptation used to foster mating.

Correctly, love is desiring the well-being of another to the point of being willing to sacrafice, and sacraficing, your own needs and wants for them. Love is seeing that another person is at least as important as yourself and trying to help them. The modern world has trouble with this reality. Love is feeding a baby in the middle of the night. Love is putting off a new car to pay for braces. Love is being willing to die so that others may live. Christians are called to this love. Christianity IS this love.

so then are only christians privy to love?

I think God is Love and therefore He is greater than any religion. Religion is man-made. Love is pure and from God.

NOt at all. That is not what I said. Only Christianity is a religion that IS love. All of humanity is capable of love. Not all of us love, however.
if one can love on their own, why need religion or christianity
(the one religion that is love)?

so it’s just you and God.

That’s rather selfish.
When it comes to my relationship with God…Yes! When it all comes down to it, it is just me and God. This is not selfish because Godly love is unselfish. My job as a child of God is to show everyone that I come into contact with how much God loves them. That is my purpose in my marriage, in my friendships, as a parent, as a daughter and sister, and as a believer in general. I don’t love so I will feel good about myself or because I hope it gives me eternal securtiy. I love because that is what God desires from me…so I can be a light of His glory to others so they will know Him. I just want everyone to feel the acceptance and love of Jesus when they are around me. Jesus rejected no one. Why would you say that is selfish?

First, because we are more than a collection of empty space and charged particles. We have intellect and reason. We contemplate the unknown. Those of us with faith accept that there is more out there than more empty space and charged particles. We hold that there is God (in Christian thought). In order to know God, we use the tools that he gave to us, one of which IS religion.

Second, we are by our nature selfish. Religion should force us out of our comfort zone to help others.

Finally, we tend not to love but to lust and use. It is through the Christain faith that we can see the higher importance of other people and not treat them like sex objects.
