I was wondering, a friend and I were talking the other day and I was raised to believe that you hate the sin, but love the sinner. I always thought that came out of the Bible but my friend says that is not in the Bible. Is that in the Bible or not?

Hi,

Snopes says: It’s actually from St. Augustine. His letter 211 (c. 424) contains the phrase Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly as "With love for mankind and hatred of sins.
