Is Marriage "Earthy" or a God-given Blessing?

You can’t say that, it is not always true.

It is always true because these are the words from God. But one important thing is, if you believes that, it is not always true… then that will happen

I believes strongly and blindly on all words especially on this words. Because, still I am waiting for my partner…

And more than that, you have to make it as perfect … maybe some drawbacks in one side but can be adjust from other side.

On our church during the marriage, Priest will read some portions from Bible… something like this

ā€œOnly people with blessings from God can lead a good marriage lifeā€ā€¦

But you are a catholic!? How can you say such terrible things?
I was being very serious, because God did not place us on the earth to breed. He placed us here to be with him our savior. Our walk in life with Christ is far more important than our natural selection of compatible partners! I think you should learn to love your self more and concentrate on your life with Jesus rather then worrying about girls.
I prayed for you and I am very glad you came back!😃
If you cannot control your self them perhaps you do need a wife.
God said in genesis - ā€œIt is not good for the man to be alone, I shall find him a helper!ā€
Maybe you need that helper too. I hope you find the right person.šŸ˜›

You don’t need to tell me that, I already know your heart - I can read your mind!
You want a partner and need a partner - if you pray sincerely then you shall receive but you must love her with all your heart as if she was our lady, Mary. Love her as God would love her.ā¤ļø
Be patient and you shall receive in holy time my friend!šŸ˜›

Is celibacy a higher calling than marriage? If it is then why is marriage a sacrament and celibacy not? Surely the sacramental life is a higher calling than the one that is not.

I think the reason celibacy is not a sacrament is that one can change one’s state in life if one is celibate, i.e. can get married. In marriage, however, one has made one’s choice (closed one’s options) and must remain true to it. That’s why it’s a sacrament; because the sacrament bestows the grace necessary to remain true to one’s commitment. This is true also for ā€˜institutionalised’ celibacy, namely Holy Orders, which is why it too is a sacrament.

It is often said that in the single life one is free to devote oneself more fully to God than one can in the married state, where one has responsibilities to another person (or persons, if there are children). However, what is not often said is that a single person, with no one to think of but themselves, can be more self indulgent than a married person can be, with the demands on their time, energy and resources - and don’t think being able to enjoy sex makes up for it. (If only it did.) So, celibacy can be more of a two edged sword that marriage. (I acknowledge that many single people live at home looking after a sick or aged parent, or perhaps a handicapped sibling. No room there for being overly self indulgent.)

Whether celibacy or marriage is the higher calling depends on which God calls one to follow. The higher calling is the one that answers God’s call, be it marriage or celibacy. The difference between the two is that a celibate person serves God in the world, a married person serves God in the family. Who of us could choose celibacy if our parents had?

thank uuuu

we are moving out of this forum discussion…anyway, ur words really encourage me

ā€œWhat did I hit my head onā€? - the bible, unlike you!😃
Actually, I don’t think it is your head that is malfunctioning as much as your heart. You are speaking out of your wound.
Celibacy is fantastic - what do you mean by you might regret not having children or a hubby?
1 - Children are a drag, emotionally and physically:D (if you know what I mean)!
2 - Men are a waste of time and space!šŸ˜‰
3 - I should become a nun!šŸ˜›
4 - There is only one man for me, Christ! Amen to that alone!:bounce:
It is a great blessing that you have made a commitment to a celibate lifestyle. This will help you heal from your trauma much better. However, celibacy, like the priesthood, and marriage, are callings of God. Jesus said that it should be received by those to whom it is given. Therefore, the salient point is whether this is the gift that God has for you. If you are avoiding marital relations for the reasons in # 1 &2 above, then these have nothing to do with a call to celibacy, and are more excuses to avoid dealing with the sacrifice that comes with the calling of marriage. Celibacy is not a place for people who are trying to hide from the responsibilities of another call which they are trying to avoid because the pain seems too much.

Unfortunately, Zundrah really is serious. Her identity as a woman has been severely wounded in childhood. In any case, this is not something one should make jokes about . Domestic violence is too widespread and serious a problem not to take it seriously. Zundrah has offered that her sister’s husband beats her. This is a very serious problem, and it will not help to make jokes about it.

You are again confusing God’s intention with peoples sinful actions. Just because God chooses the perfect partner for someone does not mean that ā€œperfectā€ person will act in accordance with God’ s intention. The purpose of a spouse is to help the other person get to heaven (become Holy, as He is Holy). For reasons we may not understand, this may be part of your sister’s journey to heaven. No one is expected to be abused, either in a marriage, or out of it. She would do the most good for both of them to separate from him. Accepting the violence does not help either of them get to heaven.
But you are a catholic!? How can you say such terrible things?

I agree about the "breeding’. Your perception of ā€œbe fruitful and multiplyā€ has been severely distorted by your trauma. Our walk with Him is not to be separated from our selection and life as partners. This is why Paul compares marriage to our relation ship with God. I think when you read Theology of the Body, you will recognize this.

I think this is excellent advice, and I hope you will take it yourself. I hope you will seek first the kingdom of God, live chastely, and everything else will be added to you. Right now, your image of men, marriage, and family needs a lot of healing.

If you are married to the right person, you realize that marriage based on love and faith is truley a gift from God. A true marriage is based on being subservient to God’s will and thinking of your spouse first. In other word’s, a good marriage is based on the two great commandments: loving the Lord with all your heart, mind and strength and loving your spouse as you love yourelf.

One of the great things about a true marriage is that the love you receive from your spouse gives you an idea of the infinitely greater love that our Lord has for each of us. The same is true of the love between a child and a parent.

When you give, you receive ten-fold.
