Without those so-called experts you would not even have a bible to read. As it is, you threw out part of the inspired written word of God by rejecting those divinely-guided experts for your own humanly-guided ones.

Reject the Church and you have no justification to say the bible is what you claim it to be. It really is that simple.
:amen: :signofcross:

no Stevie, I’m not God, but neither is (any) pope, Mary, or an assortment of men that get together ever so often to decide what the catholic church will believe next!

2Ti 3:16 All (pas - all, every, whole) Scripture is given by inspiration of God (theopneustos - divinely breathed), and is profitable (ōphelimos - advantageous) for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete (artios - complete, perfect), thoroughly equipped for every (pas - all, every, whole) good work.

You can not argue with the inspired writer Paul!

Joh 8:30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.
Joh 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
Joh 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

and what is truth?

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

God’s Word is truth! Not the words of catholic tradition that is solely based on the idea’s of un-inspired men!

You too can know the truth Stephen but your gonna need to look for it. You will not find it where you currently are. And sure, you can run from me but you can not run from God!

Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
You have no clue what I believe. You have no clue as to what the Catholic Church teaches. You have no clue as to Christian history. Who have no clue as to how you got that bible.

BTW…The Catholic Church has been here for 2000+ years. What she teaches now is what she taught 2000+ years ago. Jesus will not allow anything less from his Church.

I keep forgetting, you guys know more than God!

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

you guys are not inspired, you are misguided!

Nope,
Just a sinner like you.
I trust in Jesus and his Church.

The fruit of the catholic church are widely known. We see it in the paper or in the news very often.

If you want to worship at the church Christ established and it’s not the catholic church!

Yes one of these fruit’s is that bible you have. Go figure. 🤷
Again, I really suggest you you do a little research and find out what Catholic’s really believe. This site (Catholic Answers) is a good resource for that or New Advent. or even go to the vatican website… They have on-line the CCC. Start reading the writtings of the Early Church Fathers. Not the chick track version of the Catholic Church.

Stephen, I have the book the FIRST church Father wrote, I do not need anything further. You don’t either, you just won’t admit it or are unable to face it.

Again,

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1Pe 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1Pe 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Just don’t see only there…but I tell you what…since that is all you have just that one tree in the forest. Keep hugging and clinging on to it…because that is all you have. (as well your fallable interpretation of what it says) I have available to me that tree and the entire forest…You have not answered one question we have put before you…not one…

Stephen, wipe off your glasses and look at the IITim 3 verses again.

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

THAT THE MAN OF GOD MAY BE PERFECT, COMPLETE (what does this mean Stevie?) UNTO ALL GOOD WORK!

Hey, we Catholics agree that scripture is profitable for all those important reasons. Even the part about doing good works.

By the way my name is not Stevie…It is Stephen. I have not been uncharitable to you…have not called you by any names or such. I just don’t get you at all. You have so much anger builtup in you. It does show in your posts. Why? If you disagree with what the Catholic Church teaches or any doctrine. Please start a thread on it and state your case. There are a lot of non-catholics who post here, and although I may not agree with them on some or even most things…I do have respect for them. But again I have not seen anything from your posts that tells me you know anything about the Catholic Church. What it teaches, and why. So please before you attack us, please attack what we really believe, not what you think we believe…this gets really old around here.

Joey, when will you drop the words of regular, ordinary men? Buddy, you badly need to turn to the Bible and the Bible only! None of that other stuff is of any consequence!

These are the same guys that came up with the rosary, holy water, nuns and priests being celebate, the list goes on.
Rosary is not a Doctrine. It is optional. The Church did not give the Rosary. It is a tool for meditating on Christ and the Wonderful Works of God.

Who decided what books of the Bible were inspired? What year was that? Did Christ and his Church die that year?
Who gave the the persons above the authority to declare them inspired. Think about these things. I also shall pray for you. You sincerely argue against what you believe to be bad which is what at one time I thought, as a Baptist. I hope you ask yourself questions while trying to convince of your thinking. You are in the right place. I hope you stay and learn as well here. 😉

Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear it. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the Church’s practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift He bestows on His chosen ones.

Matt. 19:29 - Jesus says that whoever gives up children for the sake of His name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life. Jesus praises celibacy when it is done for the sake of His kingdom.

Matt. 22:30 - Jesus explains that in heaven there are no marriages. To bring about Jesus’ kingdom on earth, priests live the heavenly consecration to God by not taking a wife in marriage. This way, priests are able to focus exclusively on the spiritual family, and not have any additional pressures of the biological family (which is for the vocation of marriage). This also makes it easier for priests to be transferred to different parishes where they are most needed without having to worry about the impact of their transfer on wife and children.

1 Cor 7:1 – Paul teaches that it is well for a man not to touch a woman. This is the choice that the Catholic priests of the Roman rite freely make.

1 Cor. 7:7 - Paul also acknowledges that celibacy is a gift from God and wishes that all were celibate like he is.

1 Cor. 7:27 – Paul teaches men that they should not seek marriage. In Paul’s opinion, marriage introduces worldly temptations that can interfere with one’s relationship with God, specifically regarding those who will become full-time ministers in the Church.

1 Cor. 7:32-33, 38 - Paul recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church so that they are able to focus entirely upon God and building up His kingdom. He “who refrains from marriage will do better.”

1 Tim. 3:2 - Paul instructs that bishops must be married only once. Many Protestants use this verse to prove that the Church’s celibacy law is in error. But they are mistaken because this verse refers to bishops that were widowers. Paul is instructing that these widowers could not remarry. The verse also refers to those bishops who were currently married. They also could not remarry (in the Catholic Church’s Eastern rite, priests are allowed to marry; celibacy is only a disciplinary rule for the clergy of the Roman rite). Therefore, this text has nothing to do with imposing a marriage requirement on becoming a bishop.

1 Tim. 4:3 - in this verse, Paul refers to deceitful doctrines that forbid marriage. Many non-Catholics also use this verse to impugn the Church’s practice of celibacy. This is entirely misguided because the Catholic Church (unlike many Protestant churches) exalts marriage to a sacrament. In fact, marriage is elevated to a sacrament, but consecrated virginity is not. The Church declares marriage sacred, covenantal and lifegiving. Paul is referring to doctrines that forbid marriage and other goods when done outside the teaching of Christ and for a lessor good. Celibacy is an act of giving up one good (marriage and children) for a greater good (complete spiritual union with God).

1 Tim. 5:9-12 - Paul recommends that older widows take a pledge of celibacy. This was the beginning of women religious orders.

2 Tim. 2:3-4 - Paul instructs his bishop Timothy that no soldier on service gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim his to satisfy the One who enlisted him. Paul is using an analogy to describe the role of the celibate priesthood in the Church.

Rev. 14:4 - unlike our sinful world of the flesh, in heaven, those consecrated to virginity are honored.

Isaiah 56:3-7 - the eunuchs who keep God’s covenant will have a special place in the kingdom of heaven.
Jer. 16:1-4 - Jeremiah is told by God not to take a wife or have children.

Let’s compare 2 full time persons, shall we?

A married Pastor with Children: The Pastor is serving 3 Masters. First he must serve God and tend to his flock. But the Flock get’s short changed. The Pastor has to divide his time up between his Flock, his Wife, and his children.

A Priest has only one concern and that is the Flock that he pastors. He is not hindered by the fleshly desires of a wife and children. Therefore his flock does not suffer.

Furthermore, you have to deal with the Issue that Paul remained unmarried and well as Jesus himself.

Joey,
I respectfully disagree with you, but I gotta admit you have guts and fortitude. The Lord appreciates that! God Bless! Joe

Again “All scripture” at the point in time of this writting was only Old Testament Scrolls. But we can say it applies to what was written afterwards.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

**G1124 **γραφή graphē *graf-ay’
From G1125; a document, that is, holy Writ (or its contents or a statement in it): - scripture (note : scripture is a Catholic word derived from the Latin Vulgate )
*
**G5624 **ὠφέλιμος ōphelimos *o-fel’-ee-mos
From a form of G3786; helpful or serviceable, that is, advantageous: - profit (-able).

The Protestant translators have a tendency to steal from the Latin Vulgate and if they don’t like the primary Greek definition of a word that tend to use something else in lieu of what is recommended. Hence the word used is at the end after a dash.

So now let us put in proper form.

2Ti 3:16 All documemts is given by inspiration of God, and is helpful for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
