You do not believe in Apostolic Succession? or Apostolic Tradition? Because the last I looked the Orthodox have the same Apostolic Tradition…am I right?? Apostolic succession has to do with who is the Pope. Apostolic Tradition has to do with what Paul says in 2 Thess
"hold fast to the traditions that we passed down to you whether by word or by letter.

And the Protestants have over 30,000 doctrines than don’t agree with each other…here we go…

Please don’t forget that there are two kinds of traditions. One form of tradition is truth, Another form of tradition is against truth and not from God. So, how do we discern if a particular tradition is truth from above, or demonic from below? My answer: through the sacred tradition called the Holy Scriptures. Since we both believe Scirpture is sacred tradition, let’s discuss what God reveals in the Scriptures to discern truth from above. 😉

Colossians 2:8

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

If God didn’t want Mary to participate in the plan, why did he send an angel to ask her first?
If God didn’t want Judas to participate in the plan, why was Judas born? Both Mary and Judas had an important role in the plan.

15 In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said, 16 “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17 For he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.” 18 (Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong [4] he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. 19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms,

“‘May his camp become desolate,
and let there be no one to dwell in it’;

and

“‘Let another take his office.’

Acts 1

Surely you understand the difference between God working good in spite of evil and God working good through good people and blessing them…

To answer your earlier question: Lutherans split from the Catholic Church because of Sola Gratia/Sola Fide and some other things. But the reasons Calvinists split, if you will, from Lutherans are also very serious.

Not in the same league sister… Justification by faith alone is the heart of the gospel. Our views on the sacraments are secondary issues within confessiional Protestantism. One is a gospel issue, and the other one is not.

Could you please share your view on the Cambridge Declaration which Lutherans, Reformed Baptist, Calvinists, and Anglicans signed apart from Catholics?

The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals asks all Christians to give consideration to implementing this Declaration in the church’s worship, ministry, policies, life and evangelism. For Christ’s sake. Amen.

IS MARY THE “COREDEMPTRIX”?

What does Coredemptrix Mean?

Jesus, the New Adam, is the one Savior and Redeemer of all humankind. By His Incarnation, Death and Resurrection, He redeems us from the sin of the first Adam. Mary, the New Eve, plays a lesser, dependent, subordinate role in the redemption of the world, by virtue of her relation to Christ and her cooperation in His life’s mission. So she is sometimes called the Coredemptrix, which means “Woman with the Redeemer” (not “co-redeemer”; see below).

Though many Catholics believe in the legitimacy of this title, it has not been defined as an article of faith, and probably will not be in the forseeable future. Although the concept behind the title is theologically sound, **Catholics are not required to accept the title “Coredemptrix”. **

How This Teaching Exalts Christ

Mary cannot and does not redeem us by herself. She only plays a lesser, non-essential role in the redemptive work of Christ. The Coredemptrix concept re-emphasizes the fact that Jesus is the Redeemer, for if He weren’t then Mary could not be the Coredemptrix.

Biblical Basis

The following are verses commonly cited by proponents of the Coredemptrix concept as biblical support. **Keep in mind that the Church has not yet defined this teaching. **

In Genesis 3:15, God prophesied that the Mother of the Messiah would be at emnity with the devil: “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise they head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”. Mary is forever on the same side as her redeeming Seed in the struggle against evil, sin and death.

Isaiah prophetically called the Messiah the “servant of the Lord”. At the Annunciation, Mary called herself the “haidmaid of the Lord”: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38). “Handmaid” is the feminine equivalent of servant. If the Messiah is the Lord’s suffering Servant, then His Mother stands with Him as the Lord’s faithful Handmaid, with a subordinate role to play in the Redemption of mankind.

As we saw in the first article, the Angel’s annunciation to Mary (Luke 1:26-38) reverses the temptation of the first Eve. As Eve’s disobedience indirectly brought about the Fall, so Mary’s obedience indirectly brought about the Redemption. Though it was actually Adam’s sin which caused the Fall (Romans 5:12; I Corinthians 15:22), Eve could be considered the “Copeccatrix”: the woman with Adam the sinner. Similarly, Mary is the “Coredemptrix”: the woman with Christ the Redeemer!

The aged prophet Simeon fortells both the rejection of Christ and the sufferings of His Mother: “And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Luke 2:34-35).

This was fulfilled at Calvary: “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene” (John 19:25). Mary loved Jesus and must have suffered greatly at seeing Him so torn and humiliated. She prayerfully united her loving sufferings to those of her Son.

St. Paul tells us we can make up what is lacking in the sufferings of Jesus: “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church” (Col 1:24). In some mysterious manner, Mary did this. Not that Jesus’ suffering was lacking in its salvific power, but in the application of salvation to each of us. More on this below.

Let’s discuss and debate this title for Mary. It appears Catholics are divided over Mary the coredemptrix.

Not to be rude, but see what I said earlier. Also, it’s not Lutheran to frame the liturgy in terms of worshipping God. God serves us in the liturgy. That’s just one reason that declarations don’t hold a church to what they declare just because a member of that church signs the declaration.

You are not a real Lutheran if the Lutheran denomination is defined by what Martin Luther stated was the chief article in which the church stands or falls…🤷

The first and chief article is this: Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, died for our sins and was raised again for our justification (Romans 3:24–25). He alone is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29), and God has laid on Him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:6). All have sinned and are justified freely, without their own works and merits, by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, in His blood (Romans 3:23–25). This is necessary to believe. This cannot be otherwise acquired or grasped by any work, law or merit. Therefore, it is clear and certain that this faith alone justifies us … Nothing of this article can be yielded or surrendered, even though heaven and earth and everything else falls (Mark 13:31). - Martin Luther

What Luther intended and what exists now as the “Lutheran Church” are not necessarily the same thing. Witness the ELCA’s recent decision on “committed” gay clergy.

The Lutheran Church continues to fracture, sadly, with perhaps the LCMS being the closest to Catholocism.

If you are interested in Martin Luther’s doctrine, I suggest you read the Book of Concord. Here’s a link to the entire text in English online: bookofconcord.org/

You’ll find it delightfully unecumenical. Now, please stop trying to hold people to these half-baked joint statements of doctrinal unity that are neither doctrinal nor truly unifying.

You’re entitled to your own opinion. But, I don’t think you represent Lutherans at all.

I am not at all familiar with the Mother/child cult thing, but since you only want to use the Bible then let us turn to Revelation 12:1-6. “And a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the Sun with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars”…Wait! Now let me see…there is a woman…she is in heaven…and she has a crown on her head…hmmmm, I don’t think that’s the maid! She sounds like a Queen IN heaven…oh yes, the Queen OF heaven…
BTW, Pagans call their gods, God. So does that mean that when we refer to God we are actually referring to the Pagan’s God??? Of course not~
So it IS possible that when Catholics call Mary the Queen of Heaven…they might mean the woman in Revelation??? And the Mother/child cult has nothing to do with it.
Where is the Mother/child pagan cult mentioned in the Bible?? Where is your evidence for this “cult”.

CC
Not ever one who has studied this agrees that this is Mary. Some conclude that it is actually about the people Israel( 12 tribes) and the dragon of course is Satan.

It is a sign in Heaven and prophesy speaks of the signs in the heavens concerning the end time

But if you are into replacement theology and believe that the Chosen have been replaced by the church( meaning believers of Jesus) then you will interrupt Revelation and the other prohesies concerning Jerusalem, Israel, and the Second Coming with the Jews as now longer taking part.

Have you ever looked into the real meaning of the word “Easter”? That will give you a clue as to what pagan/chrsitianity melding I am talking about.

Read more about the religion practiced in Bablyon and you will find out about this mother/child cult. it has morphed itself into nearly every pagan religion since then. It is a part of the lies told by Satan. Focus on the mother , not the Son. Pray to the mother, not the Son. Go through the mother, not go to the Son.

I will grant you that Scripture and prophesy can have more than one meaning and even refer to more than one event. Shadows and types. look to what God has done to know what God will do.

Mary was chosen from a Chosen people. Mary was the Woman whose seed would crush the head of the snake. That is why He called her Woman. Every jew would know what that term “Woman” meant. Revelation was not written yet.
