Is Mass at the FSSP and the SSPX the same for those that have been to both?
Yes, at least at the SSPX chapel that I attended. I think it may vary from chapel to chapel though. I wasn’t even aware of the difference until I stopped attending the SSPX and began attending the FSSP parish. The FSSP Mass was so much…quieter. It took awhile for me to get used to it.the laity say more in the SSPX?
If you go to SSPX and are still considering becoming a priest, then you should definitely apply to be a FSSP or Institute Christ King priestI thought our mass is very quiet. I go to SSPX I must be use to it. I will have observe better this Sunday.
I am still thinking about it. I am very weak in book work so I will maybe have to check them all out. I think institute of Christ requires two languages that would be beyond me. The FSSP might be a better fit since they don’t teach school but I would need massive help in Latin. I don’t know if they could give me that much help in Latin. With the SSPX I still need massive Latin help and they teach school which I could only do in a low grade with my skill set. I love the Latin groups but because of my academic problems I might be forced into OF even though I feel it would not be a good fit. I am very Traditional and love the Latin groups. If you go to SSPX and are still considering becoming a priest, then you should definitely apply to be a FSSP or Institute Christ King priest
God Bless.
If you go Diocesan you can still the the EF or do the OF with lots of reverence like they do on EWTNI am still thinking about it. I don’t regularly attend the TLM, but I have attended both FSSP and SSPX Masses, generally high or sung Masses. My experience has been the same as others have stated: at the SSPX Mass, the congregation was much more vocal, singing or saying the responses. At the FSSP parish, the congregation tends to be silent, except for a few mumbled responses. Is Mass at the FSSP and the SSPX the same for those that have been to both?
This has been my experience as well. The SSPX seemed like there were more responses. And the sermon was geared to families, parenting and life. The FSSP Mass I went to was quiet and occasionally does not have a “homily” or “sermon”Yes, at least at the SSPX chapel that I attended. I think it may vary from chapel to chapel though.
