The media clutters your mind with many unimportant events so that you don’t pay any attention to the important things that are going on.

Not that I want to dispute your own brand of news (that might take a while) but if news networks started covering everything you just did, it’d be hard to pack it all in a single segment. Heck plenty of the stuff I’ve seen on the news, I’ve already heard about online (be it via Facebook, Twitter, forums etc). It kinda goes to show how the internet is already threatening TV as a primary source of information. You can virtually look up any news on any subject (business, entertainment, politics, technology, science, religion etc).In this day and age, it’s important to be aware of what’s going on in the world, and how it can effect you. It might not seem like it, but events happening on the other side of the globe WILL eventually effect you in one way or another. It’s a chain reaction.
True, but much of what we read on the internet is still monitored and controlled. Don’t even get me started on social media sites…You can virtually look up any news on any subject (business, entertainment, politics, technology, science, religion etc).!
No offense but how is citing infowars any more credible than citing anything Alex Jones accuses of having an agenda?True, but much of what we read on the internet is still monitored and controlled. Don’t even get me started on social media sites…

Here is my cynical view of how most of us view news sources. No offense but how is citing infowars any more credible than citing anything Alex Jones accuses of having an agenda?
Well on the bright side, it’s technically a behavior that anyone could take advantage of: including Catholics. It means it’s easier to refine the kind of content you want to consume to validate a world view that strengthens you. That’s the beauty of the internet for consumers. The variety it enables also enables that choice. It might be a battleground once you start pitting your sources against another party but you can also just choose to not participate in the fight either. Here is my cynical view of how most of us view news sources.
Basically, if the way the news is presented in a way that agrees with one’s previous point of view, it is not biased. If it isn’t presented from that point of view, than it is biased.
This is normal human behavior. Not that it is right, just normal. The internet has made it easier for one to find sources that back up one’s personal biases and ignore other points of view and even facts.
I think it is called intentional mis-direction, or keep talking about unimportant things, flooding everyones brain with useless news, throw in some ‘feel good’ stories, usually involving soliders surprising their kids or families when they dont expect them, etc. when they avoid the real news, or take the spotlight off one news topic and direct the peoples attention to something else. I think this happens quite a bit in almost every state in the country and is highly ‘scripted’.The media clutters your mind with many unimportant events so that you don’t pay any attention to the important things that are going on.
They’ll tell you a riveting tale about that cat up the tree, but they won’t tell you that Fukushima is still dumping tone of radioactive material into the ocean. Or that the North Pacific is essentially becoming a dead zone…
They certainly won’t say anything about all the Christians that are being killed in the Middle East and China. They’ll talk about mailboxes, but probably not about the hospital in the UK that was found to be burning the remains of aborted fetuses to help power the hospital.
And many people haven’t heard that we’ve got bees dying off in massive numbers because of the pesticides that are being used in today’s agriculture. Scientists are worrying that bees and monarch butterflies will eventually become extinct!

No one lies in the mainstream media. And, what if our government started to tell lies? The media is run by a small handful of corporations. Corporations and Government influence each other heavily. So in a certain light the media and government defiantly go hand in hand. At least in my opinion. I don’t really trust the garbage i hear on the mainstream news. You usually get a vague picture of what actually happened.
sounds right. The media is run by a small handful of corporations. Corporations and Government influence each other heavily. So in a certain light the media and government defiantly go hand in hand. These are some reasons why I try to avoid watching local news broadcasts, they may touch on an important news topic, but wont talk about it for long, or give many details, instead, choosing to rush on to useless news, and feel good pieces. I do watch NBC nightly news, but even they are avoiding the big topics nowadays,
Benghazi is a perfect example of not getting the whole picture. No one lies in the mainstream media. And, what if our government started to tell lies?
Ben Ghazi was really about some lame scapegoat who posted a homemade video on U-Tube and don’t try to convince me it was about anything else at all.
Jesus, I trust in you.
Your correct in saying that posting selfees on Facebook will not resolve much.Absolutely. There’s no doubt about it, in my mind. They don’t say a peep about the imams, teachers and shiekhs in Nigeria who are risking their lives by teaching Orthodox Islam and are desperate for help. Nor do they say much about the queer pseudo-jihadist sissies, Boko Haram, and the fact that they’re using their kidnapped victims as suicide bombers. This kind of stuff needs to get out there. Posting pictures of ourselves on Twitter while holding up a sign is not going to solve anything.
I was also correct on everything else I said.Your correct in saying that posting selfees on Facebook will not resolve much.
You might find this article, by Carl Bernstein interesting. Please note the date (Oct 20, 1977). Title, short excerpt, and link below.I don’t believe to be negative in looking at our world but with all this in equality around us and the news seems to be focused on non important local events. Fireman rescues a cat from tree. Neighbor chases away robber and a child saves enough money to give to charity. Don’t get me wrong, it may seem like nice reads but major issues in our society aren’t being covered well or regularly. I sometimes have to go to major news companies (like BBC) for my national news coverage. Am I the only one I wonder? Any ideas?
lolI was also correct on everything else I said.hehehe
This study may help explain things. thanxI have heard of a study that says 9 out of 10 major media executives in the US are atheist or non-religious which means the vast majority of what you’re watching on TV or online is either usless or harmful to your spiritual development. Sure there are some nice things in the media, but most of it doesn’t affect you or will not help you in your spiritual growth. Living life is better and you can actually make a difference by what you do instead of what you consume from the media. Plus God speaks in the silence.
