Is money and riches a gift from God?

Jesus told a man that if he wants to enter heaven, he must let go of all his possession. The man was shocked and confused because he believed that all the riches he obtained are rewards from God. So, how is it that God wants us to let go of our possession yet gave us such possession in the first place? Also, if you remember the story of Job, God doubled his reward in the end.
Well, if you met Jesus while he was alive on Earth in the unhidden flesh and he asked you to go travel with him as his disciple, would you have sold everything and gone with him? Because that offer sounds pretty amazing.

I would just look at the account literally instead of thinking too hard about it.

“Is money and riches a gift from God?” Yes. All things are a gift from God. That much is certain. But some of the inferences drawn from this realization are not so certain.

One myth is that money and riches as gifts from God are indications of God’s pleasure and approval of that person. Not true. God gives gifts according to His divine plan, for His own unsearchable reasons. Any such assumptions that we draw from these gifts are just our own assumptions.

Another myth is that money and riches are evil and must be given up to to be found pleasing to God. Not true. Jesus advised people who he saw were inordinately attached to those gifts to give them up for their own good. If I go to the doctor and the doctor recommends I take a certain medicine, that does not mean that the same medicine would be good for everyone.

Another myth is that money and riches belong entirely to the recipient and God cares not how you use them. Not true. All such gifts are given provisionally and temporarily. None of these gifts are ours to have forever. It is more like being given plot of land in which to garden. We are privileged to have such a garden in which to plant good things and harvest them. But God expects us to use our little plot of land to yield a good harvest.

Well, give to the poor after selling the great number of possessions, and then follow him (Jesus).

We are stewards of God, and I do not believe that a steward calls “gift” the money that his boss gives him to manage. We will be accountable for how we will use everything we have. When we receive a gift, we are free to use it as we want without having to give an account to the one who gave it to us.
So I would not call “gift” the goods that God gives us
