How is it possible that some of the people, here, have not witnessed liturgical abuse, during the NO. In the Tri-State NY area, this is the norm. It is nearly impossible to find a parish without it. I still attend the NO, but do prefer the TLM, at Holy Innocents, in NYC, one of the handful of parishes that still remember how to celebrate he Mass.
I personally have witnessed large screens, in the Church, placed strategically to block the altar and Pascal candle to play ridiculous videos. I watched a priest consume 20-30 hosts on more than five occasions, after Communion, because he was hungry (yes, we all watched in horror). I watched priests leave the Church, and within seconds, dressed in sneakers and jeans, because it was more comfortable. I even asked one of these priests and his response was that it is embarrassing to be dressed as a priest in today’s society. This is just a few things… every week I witness something else. I’ve been to other parishes which were far worse than that I describe. The latest horrors was the Archibishop who applauded the homosexuals at one Mass, in midtown, and the fiasco in Massapequa.
If your parish does not experience these things, than consider yourself very lucky and pray for us who suffer week after week in hopes that it will change.
