I was confirmed in Grade 5. I took the preparation course from a priest. I was younger than the other kids in the class but I wanted to be confirmed and the priest felt I was ready. My mom was my sponsor. I just found out today on Catholic Answers that my mom is not a valid sponsor, and I also feel strongly that I was not mature enough to be confirmed, and I wish very much that I had waited until I understood it more. I am 15 and wish I had been confirmed now. Was my confirmation valid? I would like to have some sort of re-confirmation, but I don’t think that’s possible?

Yes, your confirmation is valid. A sponsor is not required for validity of the sacrament. Understanding the sacrament properly is not required for its validity. Afterall, the Eastern Catholics give confirmation to infants with baptism and it is considered valid. You have validly received the sacrament and it’s graces.
