Is my marriage sacramental?

When I joined the Catholic Church eleven years ago, I had already been baptized (Methodist) and married to my baptized (Methodist) husband (in a Methodist church by a Methodist minister) for 17 years (first marriage for both of us). I was told at the time that I was not required to be married in the Catholic Church, and that my marriage was sacramental. Now the priest where my unofficial goddaughter is to be confirmed says only those married in the Catholic Church may serve as sponsors. He said I needed a formal, documented dispensation from the Bishop to be confirmed, not having been married in the Catholic Church. While I do have a paper documenting my confirmation, I don’t have the extra documentation this priest is speaking of, and I doubt it exists.
Is my marriage sacramental as far as you can tell? Is my confirmation valid? :confused:
