Is my son required to go to Church?

My son recently won a scholarship to attend a two-week music camp in the summer of '15. It is a few hours away from us, and the only offering they have is a non-denominational chapel service. Are there any exceptions for situations like these? Or should we be driving up there to find a local Church?
