Is not correcting a sin?

I was wondering about something. I have noticed people at school and other places have made assumptions about me and I never actually corrected them because, I never got around to it and never cared to. Would this be a sin? Would this be the same as lying? Just curious. If it is something wrong I would like to discontinue the pratice. Thanks and God bless.

St. Faustina and St. Therese allowed other people to assume things about them, and many Saints have accepted persecution for things they did not really do. It is only a sin if you really wish for them to believe untruth. In that case it would be a passive lie.

If their assumptions are unduly flattering 😉 and you’re indulging in a bit of vanity over the matter, I suppose you might want to consider correcting these impressions for the sake of humility. But if people are just assuming things about trivial details of your personality or life, there’s surely no sin in letting it be. We’d all be awfully exhausted if it were our duty to correct every mistaken impression of us.
